Second, Where is Miami Ink?

Dena - I will certainly wiggle my toes in the sand on your behalf.  Do you mean Miami Ink as in the tattoo parlor?  Because there are none of those in Miami Shores (South Beach yes)

Hi Liz - thanks so much for visiting our blog and for commenting.  Dr. Fernandez is fabulous and I am also very exited to have her in our community.  I will travel to Hollywood to see her in the meantime, it's not a bad drive and it won't be long until she can relocate.

Great job with this blog guys! I'm a proud resident of the Shores and you really hit some great highlights here. Just remember to add to this page once all the new businesses come to Downtown, like Casa Toscana (new wine shop)and the new Subway. You should also mention Memorial and Optimist Parks (Spring Concert Series, anybody? :) thanks for everything!

Andrew - that's exactly what I need to hear, suggestions from Miami Shores residents.  You can definitely count on seeing articles about the parks, the concert series and especially the new businesses.  Thanks for visiting our blog and feel free to add your 2 cents anytime!

Hi guys,

I followed your advise and called Miami Shores Pediatrics (Dr. Laura Fernandez-Ortiz office) and was told that she's not returning to the Shores until 2 years from now :(

So, I decided to take a drive over there and the traffic was horrendous!!!!  I can't imagine myself driving from the Shores to Hollywood, in the middle of the day with a sick child.

Oh well that's too bad.  I guess I have to look from a doctor closer to the shores.  Do you have any other recommendations?

Miriam

Hey !Nice site guys! Just did a google search for "Downtown Miami Shores" and this came up. Longtime Miami Shores resident like Andrew and I'll put in my 2 cents too, if ya don't mind ;) I was just looking at the pictures above and realized that the Miami Shores P.D. is getting some new wheels with a new paint job. I remember about 7 or 10 years ago when they had a really beautiful color, like a dark blue squad car with the Village seal on the side of the car...i was wondering if you remembered those. why did they ever do away with those?! Oh well, we're lucky anyway to live in a place with such a great police force. Keep up the great work Ines & Rick!

Miriam - that's too bad!  I think it's either 18 or 22 months before she moves back to The Shores (it's a non-compete agreement thing).  But I tell you that I have 3 kids and one of them is 2 with constant ear infections and I didn't think the drive was that bad.  I am definitely going to wait for her because I know what the other choices are for pediatricians.  She is a Shores resident, her kids go to St. Rose, she is very involved and responds quickly to emergencies.  But good luck finding a pediatrician and thanks for visiting our post.

Ana Maria - I am so glad Google guided you here and that you commented too.  I do remember the dark blue squad cars and have no idea why they did away with those, I thought they looked great.  We do have the best and most efficient police force around and their response time is fabulous.   I will ask some of the police officers about the color and why they changed.

Just wanted to let everyone know Shores Pediatrics (Dr. Laura Fernandez-Ortiz) is moving back to the shores on February 2, 2009.  I've been driving to Hollywood with my 2-year old to see her, because I feel it's worth it.

I googled "Shores Pediatrics" and this blog came up, so decided to make the Miami Shores Community aware of Dr. Laura's soon to come move.

Thanks.
