Are you and your family prepared for emergencies?

 

National Preparedness Month is an annual event taking place in September that encourages Americans to take steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, schools and communities. As we continue to respond to COVID-19, there is no better time to make sure you have a plan. Check these preparedness tips and sign up for Alert Gaithersburg.

Montgomery County is hosting a free COVID-19 testing clinic on Tuesday, Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the White Oak Community Recreation Center. For more information about testing clinics this week: https://buff.ly/2EYUc8z.

Pepco Pole Replacement Projectpepco
To improve reliability, Pepco is replacing 2.25 miles of distribution lines in the Gaithersburg area. Work will take place from September 2020 through May 2021 and will consist of replacing wood poles with new steel poles in Pepco's right-of-way between Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, crossing over I-270 and MD-355. Some lane closures may be needed. The steel poles are more resilient and more damage-resistant than wood. Learn more about the project here.

I think it is important for folks to understand and prepare for the types of disasters they are prone to based on where they live.  For us in California, it's wildfires, and earthquakes.
