There are many reasons why Carol Williams is one of my ActiveRain Idols. I tend to call Carol "Carol from Wenatchee" instead of by her first and last name. There's a lot of talk about how one should blog and what one should blog about. The fact that I know where Carol conducts the business of real estate, without having to look it up, tells me that she conveys LOCAL in the correct manner. Not by stuffing keywords into her posts, but by giving the reader a cotinuous and ongoing feel for the community she works in. Prior to "knowing" Carol from her blogging, Wenatchee likely would have been last on the list of places I would like to visit. While having read Carol's blog doesn't necessarily instill in me the urge to jump in the car right not and go to Wenatchee, but it does give me a mental picture of a nice place to be and live in. She created Wenatchee in my mind, and gives me the feeling that I have been there...and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
Another reason Carol is one of my Idols is that she exemplifies a "steady as she goes" demeanor in all things. She achieves a "balance" in her life that I strive to attain. She never obsesses on an issue to the point of distraction. She juggles all of the balls in the air with the art and grace of valuing each of the balls appropriately and in relation to one another.
Last but not least, I chose this picture of Carol AND Max, because Carol always mentions Max when I speak with her in person. The human act of inclusion, of always incorporating the considerations of her loved ones before acting, and doing so naturally from love and true concern vs. a sense of duty, is clearly what sets Carol apart in my mind from most people that I know. It is why I not only value her friendship, but also consider her a mentor, whom I respect and hope to emulate. She challenges me toward change...the true meaning and value of a mentor. One who challenges me to be a better person, simply by being who she is.
I dedicate this song to Carol Williams of Wenatchee, WA. You are MY "Super-Blogger" You are tops on my list of the "25 Most Influential Bloggers". "You're everything I would hope to be...Thank You...Thank God for you..."
