Charlotte's 2020 Mad About Modern Midcentury + Modern Home Tour Goes Virtual
The ongoing pandemic has caused many of Charlotte's popular home tours to be cancelled/postponed this fall. However, the 9th Annual Mad About Modern Midcentury & Modern Home Tour, sponsored by the Charlotte Museum of History, is taking place from September 26th until October 4th. What's different this year? The Mad About Modern Home Tour is going virtual.
If you love mid-century modern architecture and design, this is the event for you!
The event kicks off on Saturday evening at 6:00 PM. The event will highlight Charlotte Modernism with NCModernist Founder George Smart. George Smart founded the non-profit organization, USModernist and NCModernist, that document, preserve, and promote modernist design. Afterwards, you'll be able to tour the renovated Cohen-Fumero House and two other exceptional midcentury modern homes from the comfort of your own home.
Tickets for the virtual tour + digital guidebook: $20
Tickets for the virtual tour and Charlotte Modernism + digital guidebook: $30

What Is Mid-Century Modernism?
The Mid-Century Modernism movement got its start in Germany from Bauhaus architects and designers who migrated to America after World War II. MCM flourished for several decades, predominantly in the post-war suburbs of the 1950s. Interiors often included wood elements merged with modern materials like metal, glass, vinyl, plywood, Plexiglass and Lucite.
What disinguishes mid-century modern design are clean lines, minimal ornamentation, contrasting materials.
Mid-Century Homes In Charlotte
Mid-century modern homes are increasingly popular in Charlotte even though historically the Queen City has favored traditional and classic architecture. Some of our neighborhoods where mid-century modern homes can be found include: Madison Park, Lansdowne, Raintree, Eastover, Foxcroft.
If you're considering purchasing or selling a mid-century modern home in the Charlotte metro area, I'd love an opportunity to earn your business, to exceed your expectations, and to show you that:
"The Right Broker Makes All The Difference."
