Fall Leaves Make For Slick Roads: Be Alert When Driving

Fall leaves make for slick roads. Wet leaves on the roadway can be as slippery as snow and ice.

Leaves can also obscure traffic lines and other pavement markings making driving, especially in unfamiliar areas, difficult. Be safe. Slow down. Buckle up.

Roy,

what an excellent safety precaution   There are not many areas here with fallen leaves on the road, except  for the forest.

Good advice this morning Roy. Those wet leaves can cause too many slippery roadways!

Good morning Roy. I have memories of livining the country and driving on leave covered roads. Now I long for those situations and at my age would drive more slowly. Thanks for the memories.

I had never thought about that but it makes complete sense that a road would be less safe with leaves on it than without.

Excellent warning, Roy. The leaves seem to be dumping on Charlotte streets and with the rain we've had it's very slick right now.

Good Point Roy, I remember being a teenager in Pennsylvania and driving in the fall when the leaves were wet, not good.

Yesterday, we saw our first rainfall of the season.  And, there were a number of accidents caused by the slickness of the roads.
