Another Utah Monolith

So what is a hoodoo?

A spire of rock that has an easily eroded column and a more resistant cap. Sometimes they look like mushrooms. They are kind of eerie, so they're called "hoodoos" and also have other names, from "fairy chimneys" to "goblins."

I've been following the story of the mysterious monolith that appeared in Utah several days ago.  Folks have pondered whether it came from extra-terrestrial visitors, or was a mere marketing ploy for an upcoming Star Wars movie.  It has since disappeared!

However, the monolith pictured below is created by nature's hand, and still exists in Utah's Kodachrome State Park and is called a hoodoo.  What is a hoodoo, you ask?  The Native American Indian definition related to the Bryce Canyon formations is the stone formations are Hoodoos - and are dead men standing.

If you are ever in Utah, it's worth visiting.
