One of our favorite fish is Petrale sole. It is a light fish, easy to prepare sauteed and coated with a light batter of gluten free crackers. It takes minutes to prepare.
As I was planning the meal, I realized that we needed a white wine to accompany the meal. A red would overwhelm the taste of this fish. (Some fish like Ahi or Salmon work well with a Pinot Noir). I noticed this bottle pictured above, and noted it was from Quincy.
Did the label catch my attention because of the name of our cat, Quincy! Yes, it did! However in a nanosecond, I also remembered that Quincy is one of the oldest small wine growing villages in the Loire Valley on the river Cher in France. I also remembered that this was a Sauvignon Blanc grape.
Quincy is also known as an appellation. Wine Frog defines appellation as: "An appellation is a legally defined and protected geographical indication found on the wine label. It indicates the wine’s origin and, to some extent, the quality."
Here are the tasting notes from the producer's winemaker:
Eye :
- Pale robe, shiny, with silver highlights
Nose :
- Mineral, citrus aromas, grapefruit and some candy notes
Mouth :
- Tonic, fruity and refreshing. Ends with a delicate liveliness
Bottom line, we enjoyed it, and would recommend it for seafood or cheese platter. We would definitely buy it again.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend! Cheers!
