Our Visit to Shoppers

 

It was time to get a new supply of wine and beer and I decided to visit our local Shoppers Food Warehouse store in Germantown, Maryland. They have a nice selection of wine and beer. Chef Dolores went with me to do some grocery shopping. It was her first time in a grocery store since last March. How times have changed when a trip to a grocery store becomes a special outing.

During the pandemic, we have relied upon family shoppers and delivery services for most of our needs. Now, Dolores is anxious to visit Trader Joe's.

I have continued to shop for groceries during this pandemic, but have been selective about the time of day I shop.  A couple of our local grocery stores have allocated the first hour of the day, for seniors.  When I arrive, I find they have freshly sanitized all the carts.  Mask requirements are in place, and a hand sanitizing station is just inside the door. I have felt reasonably safe.

I have never heard of Shoppers before, but I have heard of Trader Joe's, we have them in my area too.

Good morning, Roy... having been in the grocery retail business for 10 years of my corporate life, I love going to grocery stores. And I did not stop throughout the pandemic nor was I concerned about the time of day I shopped. I can say that I've not had a single grocery item delivered to my house since the pandemic began.

Isn't it nice to venture back out again with some degree of confidence? Masks and being careful still are in the picture, but it doesn't feel as risky as it did before our vaccines.

Hi Roy - I'm glad that you and Chef Dolores were able to go out shopping. I've been going into our stores since early last year after I tried curb side delivery. For me, I wanted to choose my own produce and groceries.
