Carol's Epic Road Trip: Days 18 & 19 - Washington, PA

By
Education & Training with Although I'm retired, I love sharing my knowledge and learning from other real estate industry professionals.
On Monday, day 18, I drove 410 miles from Terre Haute, Indiana to Washington, Pennsylvania where I was greeted with a smile by my host Women Who Golf member Nancy Bielawski, and her sweet dog Callie.

Nancy and her husband were kind enough to invite this stranger into their home for two fun days of visiting, golfing, and sightseeing.

On Monday evening, we enjoyed a lovely dinner in their indoor/outdoor sunroom then moved outside to enjoy the evening in front of the fire pit on the deck.
Roman enjoys experimenting with mixology and made me some samples of various whiskey drinks. They were all great but I was partial to the one with blueberry in it. I can't even begin to remember the names of them but I know I enjoyed them. I guess you can see from the picture I am more than a 2 fisted drinker. LOL Thanks, Roman!

On Tuesday (day 19) Nancy, her friend Val and I played golf at the Lindenwood Golf Club. What a lovely and interesting course. We didn't get any birdies but we compromised and enjoyed some of those "par shots" I've mentioned before.

In the evening, Roman drove us into Pittsburgh to enjoy a lovely dinner out on the Patio at the Hard Rock Cafe then a ride up the Incline to the top of Mt. Washington to enjoy an amazing view of the city.

I had an awesome time in Pennsylvania with my new friends, Nancy, Roman and Callie.

Such a fun time!  I am sure that Wayne Martin is envious of the adult libations you got to enjoy, even though he didn't make mention of it in his comment.

Hello Carol - while I have been to Washington Pennsylvania(at least once, maybe more) I promise I will not be a back seat driver.  Continue on your journey - I am enjoying the ride.  As I know others are too.  Be safe.  Stay happy as you reconnect with friends known and curious(and excited) about those you have yet to meet in real life.

The Pittsburgh skyline can be very pretty at night as evidenced by your photo.  Would have appreciated a few more shots of the golf course however

Morning Carol.

My dream vacation is to get in the car and start driving, not knowing or caring where we wind up.  I'll do it one of these days.

Carol, was thinking about you yesterday, after 5 hours on the road.   Was wondering how many miles you were driving each day.    When I did this schedule, I TRIED to keep the driving to 4 hours per day.

Hi Joan Cox
Some days were long and some shorter. It just depended on where I was trying to get to. It was 8 hours from Salt Lake City to Denver. I remember after leaving Denver, my next destination was Kansas City, MO. It was too far for one day, so I stayed in Hays, Kansas which was around 360 miles. It was another 260 miles to Kansas City. An 8-hour driving day wasn't uncommon, though. My trip was different than the one you are on. Mine was about playing golf and meeting up with people, not so much sightseeing... so I went where my peeps were.

I hope you're having a blast!!!
