The Future of Car Sales: QR Codes?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

Last Sunday, as we were walking out of our favorite restaurant, we noticed this red Mercedes roadster for sale.  If you wanted to know the price and who to contact, you had to read the QR code.

We found it amusing!  It is a sign of the times, and we are not in the market for a classic.  Will we see these on real estate signs soon?  What do you think?

HI Alexandra... QR codes were tried years ago on real estate signs and flyers. They didn't seem to be all that popular. I rarely see them used anymore.

I didn't realize these QR codes were used anymore Alexandra. Especially with the senior crowd, many don't know how to use them.

Grant Schneider possibly the way of the future.  When I return something to a store. I have the choice to print a label or have the company send me a QR code.  Quite often the QR code disappears from my phone, so I print it...A

Wayne Martin I dislike them.  As we traveled, they were prominent in lieu of menus.  I hated it, I like to peruse a menu at liesure not in a phone camera .  I learned that they did Xerox menus, so I would ask for those.  I still want the written stuff.  A

Kathy Streib yes,  they were in vogue at one time.  One of our clients clients said to her, why do have ants in a box on your beautiful site and collateral materials?  (She knew about the QR codes.)  That was the death knell, the aesthetics is what mattered in this particular market.  A  I saw QR codes in airports!  I know how to use them and I do not like them.  I found that restaurants would hand you ccopies of their menus.  It takes longer to swittch to a wine list on the phone than in hand.  Our favorite restaurant Lucky's never did that.  They just wiped their menus every time...had to keep the joy of dining alive.  A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel I agree!!!! And I've read recently that some QR codes can lead you where you don't want to go. When the Pandemic began and our restaurants reopened, the first restaurant we went to had a limited menu that they printed for you to keep or toss.

Sham Reddy CRS I dislike all these references to Covid,  There is something inhumane about all this.  I understand it, and yet this is another enforcement on us...Thanks goodness some buck the current.  A

Brian England I hope those things crawl back in the past.  However, since I shop on line for the most part, the returns are often done with QR codes..A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel there were two things that popped up that somehow never got a ton of traction in real estate (at least here)... QR codes and 800 numbers to get recorded information about a home. They were introduced with a ton of hoopla but never really took off.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - for a long time QR codes was used heavily in DFW. To register for a RE class, I had to register with my QR code and to this day, some require it. Personally, I don't use it for my marketing and I got rid of my signs that had the old QR code for my previous Broker. I only use it if necessary.

Using them to sell cars seems strange to me. But I do LOVE old cars!!!

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP years ago, we had a good mastermind going on the subject of Artificial Intelligence.  One side felt we would all become that, and another side felt the human element was more important.  Granted, we are cyborgs to a certain degree having the ability to access information in minutes...However, I kept saying will AI be able to taste a juicy piece of fruit and feel the pleasure of the taste and the juice running down our faces,, or compose an original piece of music that was beautiful because of its imperfection?   A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I'll bet there was a lot of lively conversations with your mastermind group talking on the subject of AI. I like your analogy a lot. AI does serve a promising future in some areas of our life, like surgery. Several years ago I had Artificial intelligence in laser refractive surgery and it saved my life. Thankfully, my Surgeon was performing the surgery using laser surgery and my odds of survival without it would have been about 3% without it.

As for advertising, whether it's using the QR Code or any other type familiar with sales agents, it can work either way or not...

Again, that sounds like your mastermind group was pretty amazing!

I think QR codes are a great way to get info quickly to buyers. Does not matter what you are selling.

I love the car but would not use the QR code for information.

This is a good way to miss opportunities.

Here near the Silicon Valley, many restaurants use them and the wait people seem shocked when we want a "real" menu.    Personally, I don't care for them, and many seniors don't even know what they are!   But there are a lot of "techies" that love this kind of stuff.    So I suggest offering both contact methods.

Separately, I just read in Reuters that there are many start ups looking to convert old classic cars to electric vehicles.    That's a trend I'll be watching!
