Our title, Twisted Wondrous Twisted Moments is another way to describe the word "serendipity". Here is the dictionary's definition: the faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident, and a talent for making fortunate discoveries while searching for other things,
In our experience, these discoveries are not accidental. They are a result of being in harmony with one's environment, and one's positive outlook on life! A therein lies the talent of being in harmony with twisted wondrous moments.
What people call serendipity sometimes is just having your eyes open.
~Jose Manuel Barroso
I chose this quote, because for this has been true for us. It emphasizes the power of being in the now once again. I took this photo Saturday morning as we were driving to have breakfast with out friend.
"For me, serendipity, coincidence and chance are more interesting than any preconceived construct of our human encounters."
~Charles Traub
On an educational cruise in the Mediterranean Sea, we had an impulse to go out on the deck for our break while at port. Dolphins at play were frolicking, and minutes later a double rainbow appeared. We loved that moment!
Another aspect of twisted wondrous moments we have noticed is that they usually happen with great regularity when we are in a good mood and appreciative of all that is.
Having brunch earlier this month at our favorite place, we noticed that a gentleman was perusing the wine list, while waiting for his party. He finally ordered a bottle of Dom Pérignon for his party. I smiled and said, "Good Choice!"
I mentioned that we had worked with Dom on behalf of one of our clients, and enjoyed the Champagne. He told us that he did not drink, and instructed the waiter to have us taste the Champagne, and pour us two glasses.
And so we did, but insisted only on one glass to share. As his party arrived, we met everyone, and had many things in common and exchanged phone numbers.
On Active Rain, in one of my posts years ago, I mentioned the Tolstoy foundation. I was referring to the place we had first stayed at, when we emigrated to the United States.
Nina Hollander, Broker read my post. She knew exactly what I was referring to. This led to a friendship and a wonderful conversation. One of these days, we will visit her in Charlotte. What are the chances that one of the many members would see this post and know exactly what I was referring to?
Wondrous Twisted Moments big and small are there for all of us, and we have found that the more we focus on them, the more they come our way.
What are some that happened to you?
