And the Schooling Goes On

By

I've always enjoyed learning... schooling not so much.

Even into my 60's the schooling has yet to end. Even after formal (State) education it seems that every occupation I've had has kept me going back for more. As far as I know every State has requirements for all Real Estate related professionals.

Did you know that it also applies to Notary Republics who are certified signing agents? Yup! Annual requirements are mandated by the industry itself. Although not a State or Federal agency few Title companies or mobile notary services will use a Notary Public who is not a member of the NNA (National Notary Association).

As the certificate implies, an annual background check is also required. I am proud to be Certified and screened.

The on-going educational opportunities is one of the aspects that attracted me to a career in Real Estate. There's always so much more to learn, read about, research, specialize in..

I looked into becoming a mobile signing agent in MD after my first settlement experience with a mobile notary! I'll probably keep it on the radar for when the time comes to retire from Real Estate - like you did.

Knowing the process inside and out can only be an advantage which - I am sure - your clients appreciate.

That is very cool Andrea Bedard . I got my notary license during my first year as a Realtor so I could close mobile home sales in office. When sales were a little slow I'd accept a mobile notary signing. There were times my mobile notary income eclipsed my RE income. HOWEVER when I became a Broker and purchased a long established Brokerage I quit all notary work until I retired.

Thank you Dorie Dillard Austin TX . I don't know why I kind of dreaded taking the exam this time around as I had always aced it in the past. I did great and I won't doubt myself again next year.

Hi Bob... I'm also done with my continuing ed for the 2021/2022 year which ends June 30, 2022. Can't say I ever learn much in these CE classes, unfortunately. I took one this year that was a total bust! North Carolina does not require annual background checks. South Carolina just started requiring them along with finger prints this past year and I think I'm good now for either two or three years.

Thanks Kathy Streib . I don't know why I had a bit of anxiety over taking the exam but I did end up passing with flying colors.

Endre Barath, Jr. when e-signing came on the scene I was thinking it was time to retire but thank goodness the need for "wet ink" signings is still very strong so I will be sticking with it for now.

Brian England we never do graduate from the school of hard knocks do we? I'm glad I am part of a belief system that recharges my faith daily. That is the education I love the most.

It is so true that knowledge is power Wayne Martin . I have always enjoyed learning but I have to say that it took a 9th grade teacher to unlock the skill I needed to learn what all those talking heads babbled on about the 1st 8 years of my education.

There were very few CE classes offered that I thought were worthwhile in ND Nina Hollander, Broker and thus it was hard to show interest in them.

I always thought it was odd that every State did not require background checks (including ND).

Bob "RealMan" Timm North Carolina requires a background check at the time you first apply for a license, but there are no updates.

I can relate to the shoveling Roy Kelley but thank God there is a big strong 20 year old man (my son Timmothy) living in our home and he does the hard part. I still run the snow thrower but it's fun for me.

The money is in being a Mobile Notary. The year before I became a Real Estate Broker I hit triple digits and I was only working it 50/50 along side of RE. Now in semi-retirement I do very little "mobile" notary work but I still do really good in the office Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist .
