Even though my lifetime Soundtrack features a lot of songs from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, every so often I find a current artist and a song that I think deserves to be included in my list of favorites. One of those artists is Bruno Mars. Mars who grew up in Honolulu, HI took his act to LA. to find fame and fortune. He succeeded.
Bruno along with his band The Hooligans crosses genres from pop to hip hop, to rock and has success with each sound.
Today’s song is a piano ballad written for his second album Unorthodox Jukebox. It is a story of a young man’s regret over his lost love and the mistakes he made when they were together. Bruno brings home this heartbreaking rendition that anyone can appreciate.
"When I Was Your Man" topped the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The song was an international success charting in the top ten in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
It was certified eleven times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), as well as six times platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) and nine times platinum by Music Canada (MC). In 2013, "When I Was Your Man" was the world's eighth best-selling digital single, selling 8.3 million copies.
The song was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.
