Real Estate Technology with Buying Buddy

In the real estate industry, getting an edge over your competitors is key to capturing more leads and turning those leads into prospects and clients. One of the most effective ways to do that is to establish your authority with a real estate blog as a part of your overall marketing strategy. Not sure where to start with creating a real estate blog? We’ve broken it down into 5 easy steps to help you get started.

Why Start a Real Estate Blog?

Writing articles and blog posts that are informative and helpful can bring can bring traffic to your site by:

  • Improving your SEO and indexability on Google Search
  • Allowing you to position yourself as an expert in your market
  • Marketing listings in unique and creative ways using an IDX + CRM solution

Step 1: Add a Blog onto Your Real Estate Website

The first step to building an authoritative real estate blog is to add a blog onto your website. No matter what type of website builder, like Squarespace or Wordpress, that you’ve used to create your real estate website, most make it easy nowadays to add on a blog without much hassle.

Not sure what to create your first post about? Move onto step 2 if you’re feeling stuck with ideas.

Step 2: Brainstorm Content Within Your Area of Expertise

Once you’ve created your real estate blog, it’s time to brainstorm content to post!

The easiest way to start your brainstorming is to take an introspective look at your own areas of expertise and build your topic ideas around that. It’s easier to write about things that you already have knowledge about, so starting your brainstorming from your area of expertise will make it easier for you to come up with ideas for posts.

Once you’ve come up with 5-10 ideas for blog posts, pick one that you like best to start writing your first blog post. But first, move on to step 3 to ensure you are not only building authority in your real estate niche, but also SEO authority as well.

Step 3: Do Keyword Research to Enhance SEO

Now that you’ve figured out the first few topics you want to focus on in your real estate blog, it’s time to do a little keyword research to boost your SEO.

There are plenty of free keyword research tools available around the web, like Wordstream, so pick a few search queries based upon your initial ideas and figure out which ones have the highest volume, then incorporate them into your title, blog content, and images when you sit down to write.

Step 4: Write Your First Blog Post

Onto the most exciting part: time to start writing your first blog post!

Whichever topic you’ve chosen, ensure that you’re not just writing a “salesy” post–the more informational and helpful to your leads, the more likely you are to rank on Google and be able to take advantage of organic search traffic rather than just linking to your site.

To give your content a bit more oomph, create simple graphics to go along with it using image creation tools like Canva as well as gathering images from free stock photo sites such as Unsplash. Not only will this add depth to your content, breaking it up with enriching images also makes it easier to read.

Also take a look into the other types of tools at your disposal, such as an IDX plugin for your Squarespace or Wordpress site that you already use to display MLS search for potential leads. If you’re using an IDX + CRM solution for your real estate website, like Buying Buddy, you can harness its power to include properties in your blog posts, allowing you to enrich your content even more with real-life examples of your areas of expertise.

Step 5: Push Out Relevant and Informative Content Each Week

With your handy list of brainstormed ideas, create a content calendar to ensure you stay on track with creating your content each week. If you don’t want to spend time coming up with your own, there’s a ton of templates and calendar builders online to help you in your quest.

In no time at all, your blog will become an authoritative and helpful resource for potential leads as well as for people across the web, allowing you to harness the power of SEO to your advantage.
