Hi Bill.  Right on all counts.  Old and compressed insulation.  And what gravity didn't mash down the debris did the rest.  Ventilation was a small gable vent and a ridge vent.  Vitually no inflow air.  Thanks for the comment.

Yikes, debris everywhere . . . some of it looks unsafe and might even prevent a fire hazard with the wiring being that it is so jumbled with the junk.  Were I a buyer of that home, I would say it had to be cleaned up.

Hi Sheila.  Actually this is in an apartment building converted to condos.  I think the builder/owner figured nobody would ever go up there to see what they had left behind.  Wrong!

I just have to wonder at the amount of effort it took to put that debris through the attic access and into that space.  It must have been terrible.  I like the cinder block up there the best.  Interesting.
