The first parking meters were installed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 16th, 1935. Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California on July 17th, 1955. Nadia Comaneci, a 14 year old Romanian gymnast earned the first perfect score in the Olympics on July 18th, 1976. Nadia went on to score six more tens and won three gold medals. Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill was the first to use the two finger "V is for Victory" sign on July 19th, 1941. Neil Armstrong, Apollo 11 astronaut became the first man to walk on the moon when he stepped out of the lunar module on July 20th, 1969 proclaiming "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind". The first train robbery in the United States was pulled off on July 21st, 1873 by Jesse James and his gang. They got away with $3,000 from the Rock Island Express at Adair, IA. |
