Springfield Board of Realtors Chili Cook Off

It is time again for the Springfield Board of Realtors Great Chili Cook Off. The final judging will be done about noon Friday (July 18) in Springfield's Island Park. Just follow you nose to the competition. There are six competitors scheduled this year, but once they smell my chili, they may all drop out.

The competitors, beside me, are: Ann Ross, Equity/GMAC Realty; Steve Ouellette, Equity/GMAC Realty; Sherry Waters, Equity/GMAC Realty; Dave Mara, D.C. Real Estate; and Erin Gangestad, Western Title and Escrow.

This promises to be a hard fought battle as the six competitors go head to head for the title of champion chili cooker for all of the Springfield Board of Realtors, a hugely coveted title. Early odds with the Las Vegas syndicate show a slight favoritism for Steve Ouellette, but Erin Gangestad is showing a huge surge as the betting window nears a close.  The judges are in seclusion so there is no possibility of favoritism or buying or influencing their votes prior to the contest. So, the grand prize of $3,000,000 (more or less, most likely less) is still up for grabs.

Judges, contestants and samplers have been asked to stay down wind of the after party.

Ann,

I would have to say it is a chili con carne contest, at least for me. Don't know what you and the others are fixing. We have a very open defination of chili as far as I know. LOL

Well, the results are in, and I won. I must admit, the other entries were all very good and the voting was extremely close. Thanks everyone for the competition.

Was this done for a Charity or just bragging rights?  Im trying to get a cook off together in my office and looking for a way to do it.  I don't have the 3 million dollar prize to offer.

Congrats on winning the cook off!!

No charity event, just a chance to get together. The Springfield Board of Realtors is fairly small but they do a lot of good things for the community. As for the $3,000,000, as it turned out, it was significantly less. Oh well, fun stuff.
