Grants Farm in St. Louis to be Open Fewer Hours!

By

I am sad to hear that Grants Farm, in St. Louis, will not be as easily accessed as it used to be.

Grants Farm is a place for young and old to go and see animals, birds-of-prey, and the famous Anheuser-Busch Clydesdale horses.  In the past, it was open Wednesday through Sunday.  Now, it will only be open Saturday and Sunday.

I always liked to go during the week, because it was less crowded.  Also, schools would often take a field trip to Grants Farm in the past.  It looks like those days are over.

I guess they're is cutting costs...

So, is it like a nature preserve? Well, at least it's not closed down for good. I like going to farms because I enjoy witnessing a different type of lifestyle. In grade school, um, maybe second grade, we had a field trip to a farm, and I was so excited -- city kid, you know. The bus pulled up, and everybody got off. I stood by the bus and got a whiff of that wonderful country air and immediately vomited. They put me back on the bus and made me stay there while everybody else toured the farm.

All I got for my troubles was a small plastic cow as a souvenir. :(

Debi,

I visited Grant's Farm a few years ago. Very nice. Why should we expect a foreign company to appreciate our traditions? Is this the first shoe? :)

Elizabeth - Awwww!  How sad!  What a bad first impression...  :)  It's almost like a zoo, but not.  It has some hands on activities, like feeding baby goats from bottles.  It's pretty cool.  :)

Steve - It may be.  I know they are in the business to make money.  I guess change is inevitable.

Debi... Takeovers might seem good at the time, but there are always changes, and not (like in this case) for the better.  This sounds like a fun place for children... too bad it is only open on weekends now.

Valerie - It is rather sad.  Maybe they'll change it back, in the future...

Hi Debi, Cost cutting may be the factor, but at least they are still open even if hours are shorter!

Debi,

So now while it's closed during the week does that mean that no one's there to take of the animals either. Of course not, so leave it open. :)

What are your hours on Saturday and Sunday? Is there a charge now to get into the park and do you still have free parking across the street from the park? My uncle is comming up to visit from Lees Summitt and has never had a chance to visit the park.

Thanks,

Linda Westcott

Grant's Farm is a wonderful place and I, too, am glad it is not closed permanently.

Not to be picky, but the sell of A/B has not gone through yet, so Grant's Farm is not owned by InBev.  It is sell owned by A/B and it could be due to cost cutting that the hours are being changed, but I doubt it has anything to do with InBev

KC Guy - The sale has not gone through yet, you're right.  I think it's supposed to be official by the end of the year.  We'll see...  Thanks for stopping by!  :)

THEY HAVE ALWAYS REDUSED HOURS FOR FALL BECAUSE CHILDREN ARE IN SCHOOL DURING FALL AND IT IS CHILLY OUTSIDE. PEOPLE ARE THERE ALL THE TIME TO TAKE CARE OF THE ANIMALS!

I don't understand why everyone is suddenly targeting this - I have a feeling it is because people have a grudge against the family now that they have sold Anheiser??

But get your facts straight guys! Quit being sheep!!
