Why are so Many People Talking about Sarah Palin?

Since Sarah Palin was announced last week as the vice president candidate it appears almost any conversation regarding the presidential election turns to Sarah Palin.

There seems to be a large number of people that are discussing and supporting her. There are also a large number of women that say they will vote for her.

What I'm hearing from this group of people is that they like the idea that she's a Washington outsider and a fresh face.

What are your thoughts?

Let me know

Thanks

I would say that Linda Mae is on the money.  It feels to me McCain used Sarah as a token to entice women to vote for him who were Hillary voters.

However, Palin simply doesnt stand for anything that Hillary stood for.

Buyer beware and do your home work on this candidate as you would any other.  I certainly would not vote for her (if I was a woman) just because she is a woman and can deliver a good but spiteful speech.  If McCain is elected what we loose as citizens is the Supreme Court choices that may become available in his term as President.  That alone could prove to be dangerous for all.  Especially myself, who has three daughters and are concerned about their rights and their future to choose for themselves.

I agree with Linda, David, and Greg.

I find it interesting that the first day of the RNC was postponed because of a hurricane, and we see all these posters proclaiming "Country First." Why, then, do we refuse to take care of our country? We have people who are starving, people who are eating out of trash cans, people who are homeless, people who are losing their homes, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum, ad infinitum.

Although I'm a registered Republican because I work within the system, it's been a long time since I voted a straight party ticket or for a Republican presidential, congressional, senate, or statewide candidate. This year looks like I'll be voting mostly Democratic again.

Lou,

Isn't it interesting that people say that the only reason Sarah Palin is on the ticket is to gain the support of women voters? That might be true, but voting for her because she is a woman makes as much sense as voting for Obama because he's black. Don't positions count for anything?

She is very polarizing, in part because her views are very far right on social issues. I found it interesting (disturbing) that the most quoted part of her speech was the pit bull/hockey mom thing, and that delegates at the convention were wearing "vot for the hot chick" buttons. Yeah, we really need those qualities in our politicians.

As a conservative, I talk about her because I am excited to have someone on the ticket who shares a lot of my views.  The left talks about her because they are afraid that Obama can't beat her.  He could have beaten McCain, but Sarah scares them...God Bless...Jason

I think she is awesome and can totally relate to her as a mom and woman.  I think she is doing a great job and she scares the crap out of a lot of men and women. I think she will make a great VP.

People are talking about Palin because McCain has no chance to win without her.

LaNita: Yes, she scares the crap out of a lot of people because, "should" McCain win, she is one heartbeat away from the Presidency....and she is not one bit prepared to lead this country.

She is a one-note wonder. She keeps repeating her convention speech, regurgitating the lies about what she has done for her tiny little town and the state of Alaska.

Who said Obama is Black, I thought his Mama was white, am I wrong here. A friend told me that I hope it isn't another gossip thing. Crap I gotta start getting the paper again so I can stay up on the truth. Probably the same person that told me one of the Bush's blew up New Orleans or that might of been the paper yea that's it, because that's when I stopped the paper. I knew Obama didn't look white, shoot you can't even believe what you see anymore.

I like Sarah, I am appaled at abortion and that someone above  would want their daughters to have the right to choose to kill their future grandchildren.  Yes, I am a Conservative Christian and  feed the hungry, clothe the (almost naked) and work in homeless shelters for those who are without what so many of us enjoy.

Sarah scary ? Not to me!

I think it is wrong to vote for someone "just because"" of their race or gender--we should vote for the candidate that is going to turn this country around for the good not for the worse.  Who may that be---not sure, still doing my research!

I think a vote for Sarah Palin would be a vote backwards for all women.  Not to mention, I have more foreign policy experience than she does and I can't see Russia from my back door.

I think Greg Gamble hit the nail on the head.  I couldn't have said it any better!

Lou ... We like Sarah Palin.  She will be a fresh face in Wahington D.C. and not part of the in-crowd there.  She even has some good ideas and has shown significant leadership skills.  My wife Christi and I believe she will make a fine VP.  Best wishes.  Harrison
