MusicWith many people you will encounter in real estate business transactions and also in your personal life, sometimes I wonder if they don't know that they are not playing their music.

I think all of us have something very unique to offer to others and the world. Think of it like your sheet music with your very unique song.

It seems to be more spontaneous that it comes out of us when we are very young but gets dulled as we get older.

Can you imagine that? Getting dulled to yourself? Who ought to know you better than you? Well many forget who they really are, their interests, dreams and desires.

I do think this being de-sensitized to ourselves comes from the distraction of busyness. Now more than ever we can drown our own world with the noise from the outside.

Laughter Children

Look at children for example and laughter. It naturally happens. They laugh so much more than adults. Maybe it is the lack of responsibility but I think it is a mindset of being free to be who they are in their core as well.

Live Well

I've always been a fan of the three phrases on the left to live the good life.

It really isn't that hard to connect with others and in particular your self.

Practice especially the laughing and loving and the living well will come to you. Afterall, living well is what you were born to do. It is YOUR SONG!!

Gary...

I was talking to a salesperson that came by the office to see me today, and I found myself forcing words out that weren't me.

I didn't know how to put it into words until just now ..."I wasn't playing MY song!" Thanks.

Gary ~ I definitely think it is the busyness of life that interferes.  Finding a balance is something I need to strive for.

I love that phrase also. You know...you are so right. It is easy to get so wrapped up in being an adult that we forget to laugh. There is stress and sadness...true...but there is also much joy all around us. I think we are so busy sometimes that we walk right past 'joy' without even noticing it. Your blog is always the source of much joy!!!

GBU, Gary!

Richard: Don't you hate it when you catch yourself not being you? You want to grab a hold of yourself and just say STOP IT!!!

Kathy: Just put that busyness on the shelf every now and then and be silly and laugh. It HAS to be good for us!!

Elizabeth Nieves: Joy. Joy. Joy. Isn't what we always sing and say at Christmas. We just have to let it flow Elizabeth. God Bless You too.

Cathy Lee: Busy is getting pretty old as an excuse to not live life to the fullest. We must break for fun.

Hi Sharon: That is a great reminder with the healing. Plus they say the laughers live longer too. What are we waiting for?

Well Gary, you are doing something right.  Reading your contributions puts a smile on face.  So inspired, so positive, so very freaking true!  We only live once (I think) we might as well go out smiling...

Children are such great examples to us most of the time!  They are so comfortable bding themselves and singing "their" song.

Hi Gary, I think I'd better put this on my daily TO DO list. Also, I pulled out my old flute & tried to play that music... maybe an attempt to uncover a secret message... which is that the message isn't really a secret... it's a habit---Live, Laugh, Love... lalalalalalala... ;-)

Gary, I just love the graphics for this post, and the topic of course. Sometimes my kids ask me: "Mom do you know that person?" No, "Then why are you smiling at them?" because it makes me feel better and makes others forget their problems, even if it is for a few minutes.

Hi Gary...Great Advice for us all!I like the laughing part, I understand it takes less muscles in your face to laugh than it does to frown..

As for Music in us..Zig Ziglar says many go to their grave with their music still inside of them..live your dreams.

Great Post, thanks for sharing!

Hi Gary!  I think I have the who laughing thing down pat!  I can't tell you how many times people come up to me and say "I knew that was you, I heard your laugh"!  I've even been thanked for being in the audience of a stand-up comedian or a magician.  My funny bone is fully exposed to the air and I swear it has saved my life many times.

Jason Sardi: Keep the positive vibes going my man. You are already doing well in everything you point yourself toward. Keep it up. You inspire a lot of people, including me.

Valerie: Vacations are good. Take mini 3 or 4 day ones. It makes the world of difference.

Pat: Like you, I don't plan to stop smiling. You write such GREAT well thought comments which I adore (the comments AND You). Life is meant to be enjoyed I agree.

Pam: It is amazing isn't it? You watch those little ones and they teach us so much!!

Carole: You will never be dull. You hold all the secrets for the rest of us for increased energy.

Hi Mara: Yes, my sheet music is a secret message to you - Don't forget to laugh heartily today - lalalalalal....

Mana: If you can get your kids to understand the power of a smile through your excellent example they will have learned a tremendous life lesson.

Fred: No dying with the music in us for sure. Laughter is such a huge ice breaker and de-stressor too.

Howdy Susan: They shall know you by your laughter and can track you moving around the department store by it. You Susan, have got to be the model for all of us for laughter and fun. No one can top you in this area.

Rick: I so highly admire people who are themselves. I am convinced that is the only way to live!!

I love to laugh... really belly laugh- it doesn't happen frequently, but when it  does it really clears my mind.

By the way, I have been without email, and internet connection for 2 days- that's a big destressor also.

Gary

I have finally after 56 years learned that laughter can ease any pain . And we have to learn to laugh at ourselves.

Perfect pictures to tell your story as per usual.  It is easy to become dull to yourself, to forget... what makes you laugh - the first thing is probably to surround yourself with people who make you laugh and smile..:-)  Thank you!

I love to laugh (in fact, it gets me in trouble a bit at times!!)... probably because I get a gutteral laugh at naughty things.  Hey, it's good medicine, no matter what.  I do enjoy, and appreciate, every single day.  And my days are always enhanced when I visit you!

"Live well, love often and laugh much" - is a great phrase and something to strive for every day. I too enjoy each day and make the most of it.

Funny you should mention that, Gary. As my husband and I were walking past an apartment building last weekend, I saw what I first thought was a midget. My husband said, "Yeah, right, we have a lot of singing midgets in this neighborhood." Then, I noticed it was a little boy, maybe all of five, skipping about and singing. It made me think of my childhood. I used to sing all the time when I was a kid. On the school bus, in the playground, I often sang to myself and didn't much care if anybody else heard me sing.

My favorite songs were The Old Gray Goose (which used to make me cry, actually), and Mary Had a Little Lamb and, of course, Old MacDonald Had a Farm. In other countries, take Jamaica, for example, people walk along the dusty roads and sing to themselves all the time. But we don't see much of that here. People would think we were off our rocker.

You know, GARY, somedays are such a whirlwind, I stop and think if I've had a really good laugh.  A good laugh feels so good.  I admit that somedays go by without that good ole belly laugh.  Shame on me, I'm going to fix that.  I love to laugh!

Thanks & have a wondeful weekend!

This is so true. We all get caught up in the busyness and forget to enjoy and take time out even if for a few minutes, which is why meditation whether formal or just a peaceful break or quiet time can be so rejuvenating and healthy.

Gary, what a gentle reminder to dance to our own drummer. We can get so caught up in the burdens of the day, we forget to stop to sing our song. One thing I love about living on the coast.. A short hop to the sea and I always find the real me...I always sing when I am there! GBU!

Gary,

Being a Classically-trained Guitarist, I particulary liked this analogy.

Having spent many years playing the music of others (and finally getting better

at performing it enhanced with my own style). I have been very actively absorbed in "writing my own

music". -Both with & without the Guitar in hand.

Thanks for yet another thought-provoking reminder to be true to one's self.

Best,  -Eric...

I think of our world aa a big piece of sheet music sometimes, Gary, and that each one of us is a note on the page. The way we play our part is the way we live our lives. It's either in harmony or out of tune. Hope you have a fine week ahead.
