Casa Santiago is a Cuban and Dominican Bakery, Restaurant and Caterer in Royal Palm Beach Florida.

When we are asked where can you get a great Cuban sandwich or Lechon Asado we don't hesitate to say Casa Santiago. Where can we find tasty Croquettas, Flan, Tres Leches, Pastel De Guayaba or a can of Materva? No place other than Casa Santiago.

This Cuban cafe is conveniently located right off of Okeechobee Blvd in Royal Palm Beach at 11150 Okeechobee Blvd.

Nestor's family fled Castro during the revolution and arrived in Miami in the early 60's when he was just a little boy. Of course, you don't have to be Cuban to love Cuban food! But the Cuban food is in his blood and he enjoys living minutes away from really good Cuban food. Most places we have been to are less than desirable in taste and quality.

If you are looking for a fiesta atmosphere look no further. You can find yourselves in the middle of a lively conversation most any time of the day. When we walked into the Cafe the other day there were several men sitting around the counter just having a great conversation in Spanish. If you want to sharpen up your Spanish language skills this is the place to come and hang out! They even have the Spanish news stations playing so you can get a different viewpoint! Now that is a refreshing change!

While we were eating here the other day I thought that this would make a good Localism post. As I was thinking this thought, the owner, Santiago came over to us and asked us if he could treat us to his homemade Flan. How could we say no? His Flan is delicious. We told him about about the review we were writing up on his food and he was very appreciative.

Casa Santiago is owned by Santiago Rozon and his wife Milagros Rozon. Make sure when you go to eat at his restaurant that you tell them you read about them on our blog. He is excited to have us do a review of his Cafe.

When we go Nestor will either order the Cuban Sandwich or the Bistec de Palomilla with black beans and rice and sweet fried bananas.

I order the Yucca with Black Beans and Rice. The dishes are served in large portions and you never leave hungry!

Excellent local post - and I do enjoy Cuban food. When Tami and I were in Costa Rica recently, I did enjoy the beans and rice, even for breakfast.

Alexsandra- We love Calle de Ocho and all the shops and restaurants along that segment of Miami. How did you get to go to Cuba? Nestor would love to go one day but as long as Castro and his brother are alive Nestor's family can not ever go back. They still have family there that did not get out.

Sharon- Thanks! I am sure you must have a good Cuban Restaurant in St Pete. Costa Rica is one of the places I want to visit. I know a lot of retired people moving there.

I do not know Cuban food except for Cuban sandwich with pulled port and citrus mayo. In our part of Florida you do not see it. When we were in Miami, we asked locals, and they directed us to, if I remember correctly, cafe Latina. The atmosphera was fun, the food was very good, but I would not remeber what it was. It was an outside seating, very crowded, and entertaining.

Great post

Katerina and Nestor -- I got to go to Cuba by attending a professional conference, scheduled to be at Univ of Santa Clara.  I was an organization development and diversity consultant at the time -- and the conference was on culture and education (also an educator).  It got cancelled and no one reached us before getting there --so we had the opportunity to substitute other activities.  One of the professors at the Univ showed us around for several days.  the rest of the time we were in La Habana.  My friend Nestor Hernandez had a similar situation -- some family there and not in US.  very difficult situation. I hope that there is a way for Nestor and you to get there some day.  My friend did.

I'd be just like Tristian (Christian?) in that it would be tough to make up my mind what I want for dessert. Frankly, I'd have a tough choice picking dinner at Casa Santiago in Royal Palm Beach Florida!

Perhaps Nestor could order us a few of his favorites and we'll share family style, Katerina!

Katerina - Great Localism Post. I have not had Cuban Food and they sound delicious.  I was wondering if they are similar to Filipino food.  We have Lechon and Leche Flan and other spanish sounding dishes.  Most of them originated during the Spanish Regime.

Katerina, absolutley a fabulous localism post, haven't been to Palm Beach, since I moved from Vero Bch.

Think maybe a trip just for Casa Santiago in Royal Palm Beach would be worth it since I love Flan.

Rosalinda- Cuban food has huge Spanish roots in it along with some island touches. I love Filipino food. I lived in Hawaii and my disco dance partners were Filipino. I spoke Tagalog while in Hawaii but forgot all of it except for: ini ibig kita. Probably spelled it wrong. The Flan is much the same. Cubans eat a root called Yucca alot with garlic and mojo. They eat a lot of pork similar to Lechon and chicken similar to Filipino chicken dish. But they don't eat the bean curd noodles ( see through noodles) that I just LOVE! Mmmm, I think I may make those for my dinner now. Cubans eat rice with everything just like Filipinos do. Well, even Tagalog is heavily influenced by the Spanish language. If you know how to speak Spanish you can learn Tagalog very fast. I went to the Filipines for a very short acting gig when I was 17. Katerina
