Robert Andrew Salon & Spa - Gambrills, Maryland

Robert Andrew Salon & Spa is a 22,000 sq. ft. "Tuscan-themed" day spa located in Gambrills (about 15 minutes from Fort Meade) offering a wide range of hair and nail services, massages, skin treatment, and retail products.

I could recite the history of Robert Andrew Salon & Spa or provide a detailed list of all the services they offer, but you can find those at RobertAndrew.com. I could rave about Jennifer, my manicurist, and Lorie, who does my hair. But their beautiful facility and variety of services are not the only things that set apart Robert Andrew from other salons - in fact, from other businesses in the area. They're a GREAT neighbor!

Robert Andrew Salon & Spa Gambrills Maryland Each month, when I walk through their doors, evidence of their community service or health awareness promotion for the month is evident. For example, one month they may select Go Red For Women to promote women's heart health. Another month, Breast Cancer Awareness may be their theme. In September, they're promoting Operation Support the Troops, with retail space set aside to display appropriate items for care packages or Christmas stockings to send deployed soldiers or recuperating veterans at nearby medical facilities, and many staff members are wearing camouflage tee shirts with the Robert Andrew logo emblazoned in silver glitter. ('Makes me chuckle just to think about them!)

But that's not all - They treat wounded female soldiers and wives of recuperating military personnel to services at the Robert Andrew Salon & Spa. And they invited some of our nation's heroes and their families to the company's annual picnic. This is clearly an effort from the heart and not just a marketing strategy. I have to applaud owner Bob Zupko for his leadership in these efforts.

Wait, there's more... A Tuscan fountain, which is the centerpiece of the retail area at Robert Andrew, is surrounded by tables and chairs where customers wait for their appointment. But it's more than a decorating feature - coins tossed into this fountain year round are donated to the Make a Wish Foundation.

If you're new to Fort Meade, Gambrills, Odenton or Crofton and haven't yet found the right place to get your hair and nails done, check out the Robert Andrew Salon & Spa at the Village of Waugh Chapel in Gambrills. At least go in and pick up one of their brochures and price lists. And while you're there, toss a coin in the fountain. It's a great cause!

P.S. - Hey guys... the next time you need a birthday or anniversary present for a lady in your life, stop in to pick up a gift card. She'll love it. And who knows... you might get lucky by coinciding your visit with the Washington Redskins or Baltimore Ravens cheerleaders, since Robert Andrew is the "official" salon for both teams.

This sounds like an awesome place to chill out for the day. There is NOTHING I like better for a gift than a gift certificate to a spa like this.

Well....if we are ever in Crofton... I know where Kathy will want to spend an afternoon. Wonderful localism post, Margaret.

Margaret- This sounds and looks like a very upscale salon and spa where you could just stay all day and still not take it all in:)

They certainly must believe in the - give and you shall recevie - seems like businesses that give back tend to get more - what a great place - glad you frequent it and shared it with all of us on the net

Margaret: Your review on the local FT Meade Salon and Spa go to place is great information for people relocating to the area. Creating an atmosphere for their clients and Bob Zupko's efforts to give back to the community will bring Robert Andrew Salon & Spa much success.

Wow ..that topped the place I went to yesterday....after MONTHS I finally treated myself to a pedi/mani....but it is about 500 sq. ft. In any case...nice they have a caring attitude and fighting for causes here.

This place sounds truly amazing....If I ever get down that way it is a MUST SEE! Thanks so much for sharing this.

Oh Gosh Margaret it looks wunderbar!!!!.:-) I especially love the part about them working with veterans..........plus it looks like a 'pampering' place..........some are more like assembly lines........cool!

Liz - Yes, this place REALLY spoils a gal. Who could go anywhere else after experiencing this?

Ruthmarie - If you do, I hope you know in advance so you can get an appointment. It's so popular, it takes several weeks to get an appointment unless you luck into a cancellation.

Sally - Hey, ANY pedicure and manicure are a treat! But I must say, Robert Andrew has spoiled me because nowhere else compares. Fortunately, as an empty nester I can afford to go pretty often.

Pippa - I don't know if Houston has a place like this, but I couldn't find one when I was in DFW for about 6 weeks this summer. Boy, did I miss their pedicure chairs - heated, massaging, reclining...

Katerina - When you get up this way, you'll have to let me treat you to a massage at Robert Andrew... :)

Jesse - I've seen people enticed to move for less reasons than this. First thing yah know, she'll want to relocate to MD.

Mary - Me too! Even though I go often for my nails, a gift card is my only ticket to a massage. There are limits, you know.

margaret- This place is tops on my list. I treated myself to a spa day a while back and it was the best. Bob also hosts a yearly chamber mixer for all the chambers around. he has reps there for all the services and products he offers as well as local restaurants bring in food o feed us and the Redskinettes are on hand for autographs and picture taking. Whew! Fun event for sure. You gotta go next year!

Donna, Wear Red for Women and the "pink" of breast cancer awareness obviously tie in with nail colors... but they manage to turn other causes into themes, as well.

Wow! NOW that looks like my kinda place!! You walk in one girl and walk out another woman it seems. There are no limits to what you can color, cut & relax out of your system. KM

Mortgage Guy - They cater to men, too, with a separate pedicure room on the first level and a fair percentage of male clients in their hair department.

Stephanie - I visited there today, and several employees commented on this post. It was exciting to know they'd seen it.

Margaret , excellent post about the spa. Sounds like a fabulous place to visit, and have spa services.

Marlene Noshay was the best hair cutter at Robert Andrew, I am so ashamed at this salon for losing the best stylist they ever had.

Mary, I never crossed paths with Marlene, but I've had my hair done by several people there - ALL of them have been good and the experience is always a pleasure. I've been to a lot of salons in my day, and this is by far the nicest of them. As to your favorite hair cutter leaving, I think that profession lends itself to some people relocating often.

I can't recommend any local business more highly than Robert Andrew. I go there weekly for my nails and always recommend it to my clients.
