Many college students today don't live in the dorms and if they do they don't have a very well organized meal plan. Campuses tend to have fast food places to make it less stressful on the students and less harm to their wallets. But what it really is doing is giving students an additional weight to carry; their own. Studies show that the average student gains between 3 and 10 pounds within the first 2 years of college.

Living on your own, going to school and working can be things difficult in your life so the quickest meals are usually the ones chosen. Even when going to your schools café, the salad bar isn't the best choice either. Exercise becomes hard to fit into a normal college student's life, too. With most campuses having their own gym, many students don't have the time to work out or are just lazy.

Here are some helpful tips from the professionals to help keep college students weight down and eating a good meal up:

  1. Make time for your 3 meals a day and have healthy snacks between classes.
  2. Don't have the usual midnight snack, keep that to a minimum.
  3. Watch how much you consume
  4. Stay away from vending machines
  5. Watch the amount of alcohol you consume
  6. Stay away from soft drinks like Pepsi and drink plenty of water.
  7. Getting enough sleep is very important too
  8. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day, the gyms at most schools are open 7 days a week.
  9. If you live within close range to your school walk or ride your bike.

Keeping up with these simple 9 tips can make your college students life better in the long run.
