In January of 1995 I purchased Lane Realty. So here I was a single mom with a beautiful, smart 6 year old that had to spend many many MANY hours going to work with mom. She wasn't one to complain and she always supported me emotionally. Yes, you can get support from a child. She learned to answer the phone and take great messages very early on in life. She's now a senior off at college. Today she is going to the Georgia vs. Alabama game and so far we've talked on the phone about 6 times.
I'm going to UGA!! GO DAWGS!!!
Look Mommie- I solved the Rubik's cube!
This is one of my favorites. She took dance for about year. I also love this picture, because that little worn chair was mine when I was a little girl.
My mom can't come to the phone right now, but I could take your name and number have her call you back as soon as she is free.
I'm the pink power ranger. My mother worked on this costume for weeks. It's still in the closet and I full well intend that my grand daughter (assuming I get one.... one of these years) will wear it. But Abigail has always been a defender of right and helpful to others. In the first grade her teacher called me to make sure I didn't mind if Abigail stayed inside during recess to help another student in her class with reading. It was Abigail's idea.
We rented this fish for the magazine cover. Abigail was sooooo excited to help me out. We sold the lot I was advertising in 7 days.
She's always been about... I CAN do it.
This was "senior day" of soft ball in 2005. And she'd been in an awful wreck earlier in the month and had a metal plate and 4 screws holding her left thumb on, but that didn't stop her participation in John Milledge's 4-PEAT. They were state champs for the 4th time Abi's senior year.
Here she is on the side lines with water and towels at the football game. And yes, there were shorts up under that shirt.
This was one of my favorite of her senior photos. Had that devilish look she sometimes gets.
She graduated in May of 06 among the top of her class. National Honor Society, Beta Club, Honor Grad! I was a very proud mom.
And she's never been afraid to try anything. She loved swimming with the dolphins.
I wanted to share my daughter with you. And I'd like to share a poem I wrote to her a few years ago.
To my Daughter, My Friend.
No one could understand my relationship with you
We're different from other mothers & daughters, it's true.
For such a long time, being only the two of us,
Loving, playing, teaching, learning, making a fuss,
You will always be my itsy bitsy tiny baby
Am I ready to let you grow up and leave? Maybe.
No words can express the pride that fills my heart,
Leaving the nest with your own life to start.
Setting your own goals and always making the grade.
Learning so much from mistakes you have made.
You possess beauty, love, passion and grace,
no matter if you are in camo or lace,
When you are troubled, I wish you peace,
When you want to quit, just don't cease,
When you are sad, remember times of joy,
Make your way and create, don't ever destroy.
And forever and ever whenever you feel alone,
Remember your mom, you can always come home.
I know you will have success in all that you do,
Know always and forever, how much I love you.
Mama.
My little Abi will be getting her undergrad degree in August of '09. Just three years and three months after graduating from high school. I'm very proud of her and I wanted to share.
Hope you enjoyed meeting the light of my life.
