This is a rental listing from the Knickerbocker Lofts of New Rochelle. These lofts are one of the few examples of true loft space in lower Westchester. Initially the home of the Knickerbocker printing press company, the lofts offer all that one expects from a genuine loft. Exposed brick, high ceilings, large windows, exposed pipes and hardwood floors throughout. This unit is no exception.

The Knickerbocker Press building is a landmark in New Rochelle. It was home to the Knickerbocker printing press for many years before being taken over by the White Cross during World War I for the manufacturing of bandages. In the 1990's they were converted into rental lofts and are considered true work/residence space.

This is a wonderful open space with plenty of windows and excellent light. The kitchen and bath are newly renovated – so the space combines the best of loft living with modern conveniences. The amenities include assigned parking, keyless entry, exercise room and common lounge, a roof deck and walking distance to metro-north. It’s a 35 minute commute to Grand Central Station. The complex is also pet-friendly - which is another big plus for pet people.

This wonderful space is ideal for those who seek a NYC style loft but can’t afford NYC prices.

For more information on the Knickerbocker Lofts, I wrote two blogs regarding this complex:
1. A post on the Knickerbocker Lofts as a pet-friendly condo complex.

2. A post featuring the interior of the Knickerbocker Lofts featuring some of the common areas.

Ruthmarie--This is exactly what I picture a NY loft to be...If I was going to live in NY, this is where I would want to be. What beautiful floors and windows!

Hi Ruthmarie ... Gorgeous lofts!  I have always liked the idea of loft living.  They represent the best in recycling ... history rich structures reinvented.  Thanks for sharing.

Were these featured on one of the HGTV shows?  They look like the ones where they featured the agent.  Would love to live in one!

These are great! I've had people tell me the apartment was a loft but when I got there, it wasn't. These are really nice....

Hi Teri,

There are a lot of lofts around here that are not the "real deal."  They are sort of "gentrified" or "pasturized."  These are true loft spaces.  It IS what I think about when I think "loft."

Hi Marie,

This one is a beauty. I hope that it gets rented fast. It deserve top dollar.

Hi Cindy,

I just don't know - I don't think so - but I could be wrong. They are really "romantic" in their own way.

Hi Stacy,

Very few "lofts" around here are the real deal.  Most are just modifications on apartments (condos) that make them LOOK loft-like.  But its kind of a gentrified loft look that really isn't.

Ruthmarie!  This is GREAT!  We don't have spaces like this here (at least I don't remember seeing them) - and it looks so COOL! Thanks!

Ruthmarie, I just love this, pet friendly- something I imagine is difficult to find- and renovating buildings that would have been torn down thirty years ago. What a great use of space and the size is awesome. The developer did an excellent job.

Hi Debbie - this is a marvelous restoration of industrial space....Its a NYC loft in Westchester. So many spaces in Westchester a labeled "lofts" but they fall way short of a true loft.   This is the real deal. The developer really did a splendid job.

OMG - That is STUNNING!  I would LOVE to have a place like that!  There are a few mills here that have turned into lofts - either people love them or hate them.
