The Central Avenue Farmers' Market is a mini-certified farmers' market featuring 5 to 7 farmers who sell a variety of fruits and vegetables as well as nuts and dried fruits. In addition to a great selection of fresh produce, the market hosts events for children and adults including healthy cooking demonstrations, tastings, a salsa contest, Spring into Health activities, free raffles, live music, craft workshops and pumpkin carving for kids.

The market is open year round and is located at Central Avenue and 43rd Street. The Central Avenue market proudly accepts EBT/Foodstamps and WIC/Senior FMNP coupons.

james90210So, you're probably wondering, what's Fresh Right Now! This is a great time for fresh veggies if you like Spinach, Avocados, Winter Squash, Brussel Sprouts, Mushrooms, Green Beans, Beets or Chinese Broccoli.  For fruit check out the Pomegranates, Tangerines, Limes, Persimmons, Asian Pears, Mandarin Oranges and Grapes. Other produce that's in season includes Walnuts and Honey.

Central Ave is one of the community's fortunate enough to have a Certified Farmers' Market (CFM)!  Supporting your local Farmers Market not only gives you the freshest fruits and vegetables but it's also a way to give your local small business owners the support they need to stay in business in an age of large chain stores. So, go on down Saturday between 8 am and 12 pm to the Central Ave Farmers' Market this week and every week!
