I Spent 8 Hours Preparing Thanksgiving Dinner And It Was Over In 30 Minutes

From my family to yours Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in Active Rain.  My husband, son and I just finished up our Thanksgiving dinner a short time ago.

I wanted to take pictures of what our dinner looked like but my husband and son were so hungry they started diving in and I was only able to take a couple of shots.

Tradition is our household each year is antipasto, lasagna, turkey, stufing and all the trimmings.

No antipasto is complete without my favorite item;  hot cherry peppers stuffed with tunafish, onion and olives.

My son Jeff put this colorful dish together early this afternoon.

Here's my husband Bob "declicately" carving our turkey.

Lastly, here's what was left of our poor little bird when all was said and done.

We're off to visit the rest of our family at my sister's house and enjoy some homemade apple pie, pumpkin pie and coffee!  Happy Thanksgiving and may your day today with your family and friends be just as enjoyable as ours!

Sounds like your menu is a bit different from ours but with the turkey as the centerpiece.

Looks like you enjoyed it, but I can understand the frustration of 8 hours to prepare and 30 minutes to eat.

The food looked great.  I didnt have to prepare any food today, but I stood around for three hours for a two hour parade-the Macy's Day Parade.  Is was definetely worth it.  Hope you have a great day.

Preparing thanksgiving meal takes a long time.  I used to start cooking on Monday but I had to cook for 23 people.  Luncheon was usually over in two hours.  But I enjoyed the day.  Happy Thanksgiving.

It is so funny that you have titled this post this because the exact same words came out of my mouth today.  We had dinner at 2 pm... 2:30, we were done!

The nap that came after was the best part!

We started getting ready yesterday and got through preparing at noon today and yes it was devoured instantly.  Like a giant sleeping pill everyone headed to the couches. LOL

Good thing you took some photos.  Next year make a video of the preparations and the eating.  That way you can look at all the work you did.  And enjoy it over and over.

You didn't count the two days getting the house ready for the family visit, I was happy to host again this year and sometimes wonder why we just don't go out to eat. Food looks yummy!

Donna, that looks really good. It does take hours, doesn't it? And clean up is a bear too. But it is sooooo yummy. ;-)
