So the Whole Point of This Is......

By

I have been searching for some sort of rhyme or reason to this whole blogging thing, and I have to confess that I am, at this point, clueless. Is this supposed to be the new telephone? I mean, are we now using blogging as a means of communicating, or is it another medium for venting our fustrations with the market? Are we using it to get clients and referrals, or are we using this as a means of patting ourselves on the back and congratulating our own sense of self-importance? I am looking forward to moving forward with alot of new things this year, and I suppose that blogging will be one of them, but only if there is a point to all of this.

Therefore, the question remains....

So the whole point of this is.....?

Looking forward to the responses like a night of hot passionate sex....

I believe the point is to make money.

However, that is achieved by increasing market knowledge, making more contacts, learning and sharing more about your community, getting support and encouragement from other industry members, learning new ideas and skills to improve your business, getting your name and website into search engines, becoming a recognized industry member in your community, etc.

The more we do those things, ultimately it WILL turn into a transaction and make you money, which I believe is the ultimate point of hanging around will all these strangers and industry members.

Now make sure you send me all you Alberta real estate relocations and mortgage clients, lol.

Based on what Shane and Robert have said, that brings me to mjy next question:

How do we use this to talk about my services if we aren't allowed to market ourselves? Or are we?

Hi  William James. You'll see that the more you read others blogs, the more you'll get "what's it for?" I think the answer is different for everyone. I read others blogs to learn and to get fresh ,new ideas about how to grow my business. If you blog with the idea of what you can share , that others might benefit from..the business will "come" to you. It's like that "karma" thing you've heard about. You don't really need to try that hard to promote yourself, when you are honest and just tell it like it is, the real William will "come out" and he'll attract business just by being genuine.

Linda - Thanks for sharing that with me. Since I last visited this post, I have come across so many great ideas, some of which I have already implemented. Now that I've planted the seeds, with some watering and sunlight, they should blossom into great big healthy plants full of contacts, clients, and closings for me...

Linda - Sorry for keeping you in suspense for so long! (smile) I now need to figure out, among other things, how to get all of these nifty widgets, logos (I don't think that's what they're called, but the name escapes me - you know, those rain drops that appear near peoples' pictures on their comments, etc), linking my blog to my websites (I'll have at least three before the end of February), and figuring out what to put in my blog to get sellers and buyers to look me up and come back.....
