Before I digress, this post is not about the ministry....it's about the coolest guitarist ever. I mean....really cool. OK...so a year ago, Im in church and see some teenage girl after service come up and talk about this cool weekend for all the youth. It's about vocations, but it's all about FUN, FUN, FUN. I decide to go and I see this dude sitting up beginning to play guitar....but something weird is in front of me. The guy has NO ARMS. He was born without any arms at all. His parents said that they won't be around to take care of him when he's 80, so they make him self-sufficient. They enroll him in able bodies sports.....
Thereafter, they buy him a guitar and say go figure it out....AND THEY'RE SERIOUS. Here's a 1-2 minute glimpse of what determination with no excuses can accomplish.
Let it Be, by the Beatles
Back in 1987, he played for Pope John Paul II for world youth day in front of an audience in the hundreds of thousands. So this dude goes out and plays a song that he wrote for JP. JP was so moved that he broke down and cried and hugged this guy. Is this totally cool or what. This is a longer clip for those who want to see it.
Needless to say, he's coming the weekend of March 5th at Saint Patrick's Parish in the Crane Road location. I took my kids last year and the adults liked him as much as the kids. For more information, look at http://www.stpatrickparish.org/index.php?m=44&PHPSESSID=3b71cb9bf5634b256d86d1754e10f254. I think you'll find it worthwhile.
