Desert Ridge 

We have blogged on Desert Ridge before, but thought we would update and elaborate.  We will be posting a few blogs on various aspects of life in the Desert Ridge area.  Check out this previous blog on Desert Ridge for some basic background info.

Desert Ridge is a master planned community in Northeast Phoenix, not far from the Scottsdale border.  Desert Ridge combines the best of desert living and the Phoenix lifestyle on 5,700 acres; Desert Ridge is zoned for approximately 15,000 homes, as well as  major commercial and retail developments.  This is a true master planned community, offering a wide range of residential, commercial, recreational and employment opportunities. The master plan ensures lasting community integrity and long-term value for Desert Ridge residents.

Roughly 90% of the land within the Desert Ridge Master Plan boundaries has been sold to developers, although much of it is still to be developed.  There are numerous projects currently under development in addition to already well-settled neighborhoods.  Current residential development includes Fireside at Desert Ridge by Del Webb, Toscana Condomimiums by Statesmen, and Bella Monte townhomes by Towne Development.  Land is already turned in preparation for new homes by DR Horton and Meritage as well.  Land is being prepped for the first phase of the upscale and ambitious CityNorth Project.  (We'll have future blogs on all of these as well.)

Desert Ridge sits astride the Loop 101 Freeway and has two interchanges providing access.  Additionally the SR 51 freeway intersects with the Loop 101 at the southwest corner of Desert Ridge.  Desert Ridge is an ideal location for anyone working in the larger employment centers of Downtown Phoenix, or the Scottsdale Airpark.  The freeway provides easy access to all the major sporting venues of Glendale, Tempe and Downtown Phoenix as well.

Desert Ridge MarketPlace is already considered a shopping mecca.  Adding to the area's allure will be the the upscale CityNorth with 3 million square feet of mixed development including retail, restaurants, offices and residences.  An additional 2 million square feet of office park space, and more space for hotels and other housing.

Desert Ridge has so much to offer.  Award-winning schools in the Paradise Valley School District.  Golf at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort, lots of shopping and dining at Desert Ridge MarketPlace, lots of walking and bike trails, easy access and friendly people.  What more could you want?!

Is the Scottsdale Airpark a residential community or public airport?

Thanks for the question.  Scottsdale Airpark is actually a commerce hub that  surronds Scottdale Airport.  Scottsdale Airport is one of the busiest single runway airports in the country.  It is used primarily for  commuter and business flights.  The surrounding area known as the Scottsdale Airpark is home to over 2500 companies utilizing well over 21 million square feet of building space.  Over 50,000 employees work in the Airpark.  It is estimated that there will be approximately 25 million SF and over 3000 companies by 2010.

As such, with such a large employment base, it is a boon to the overall area.  Employees come not just from Scottsdale, but many other Valley cities.  It is located close to the Loop 101 freeway providing easy access from around the metro area.
