Teresa Berry

My good friend Teresa Berry recently posted a blog about a free "word cloud" generator named Wordle that has all kinds of uses for marketing yourself, or listings, or just about anything you can think of. See her blog here for some great ideas!

Aside from being free (always a good thing!) Wordle, is just way too easy for you not to be using it.

If you don't know what a word cloud is, just go to your ActiveRain blog page. Scroll down some and on the right hand side there is a drop down box marked "Tags". The words that appear in that drop down box are your "clouds". Words you use most in your tags will show up larger than infrequently used words. Settle down, I'll show an example in a moment!

Ok, so you're interested, but now you want to know how to use Wordle...

Here it is. Step by step for you!

Open the Wordle web page

Click on Create (No registration or anything is necessary!)

Type in a bunch of text.

Or

Copy the URL of your ActiveRain blog page and paste it in the URL create box. For example, here is my ActiveRain blog page address http://activerain.com/blogs/craigrutman. Just substitute your ActiveRain username where mine is. The rest is the same.

There is a third option for those of you who have del.icio.us account. But one of the other two options should be more than you'll need to get started.

Below is what my ActiveRain URL generated in Wordle. You can customize the colors and change the layouts of your Wordle. Or you can just click the randomize button and let Wordle do it for you! You also get the HTML code for posting it in your blogs or on your web site.

Craig Rutman's Word Cloud

Feel free to ask questions if you like. But, trust me on this one, it's really quite easy to create your own word cloud with this freebie.

What you use them for is only limited by your own imagination....

Enjoy!

Wordle is fun... and a great way to dress up naked blogs IMHO. I use one occasionally because I hate posting without an image.

You missed it when Kaira Rouda shared Wordle with ActiveRain?  I think it was back during the presidential election... speeches make great Wordle's.  Kaira wrote about it....
