How Do You Pronounce Meme Anyways?? - My First MeMe

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Destiny Real Estate Cambridge, MA

Some people may not like them but I think Memes are fun - to read and now to write.

I was psyched to be tagged by Gabrielle Rhind - thank you!

So, here goes....my first meme:

I'll start off with an obscure sports reference - I babysat for Peter McNeeley when he was little.  You might not remember but he was the first boxer to fight Mike Tyson after Tyson was released from prison.  The bout lasted 89 seconds.  Peter lost.

In 3rd grade I emptied my bank account to buy an antique spinning wheel.  I've collected antiques ever since and the spinning wheel is now in the hall of my circa 1790s house.

I was "crowned" Woman's Libber of the Year at the 8th grade graduation dance after teaching a Women's Lib mini-course to my classmates.

I hitchhiked regularly as a teenager - alone and with friends.  Times have changed!

I was robbed while working as a bank teller in Boston in the 1980s. I still have a photo from the security camera. The woman behind him looks shocked - probably because he had just threatened to blow my %$#- head off.  I bet it was his hand jammed into his pocket but it was enough to get him charged with armed robbery.

I save all the money I find on the street - including pennies - in a Lucky Charms tin.  I have $4.38 in my tin.  Mostly pennies, one dollar bill.

I love my job so much I sometimes skip on my way into the office - but only when I go in really early.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I always wanted to do a "Liz Bolton Lived Here" tour so here it is Meme-tag style:
Mike Lefebvre of Medfield, MA - Because I grew up here
Jamie Ramos of New Haven, Ct - Because I lived and worked here
Jeff Mateja of Portland, ME - Because I lived here for a bit too
Shane M. Hill of Natick, MA - Because I was born here!
Kim Brown of Keene, NH -  Because I bought my first house here
Jeff Dowler of Carlsbad, CA  - Because he used to live here in Cambridge, MA - and we miss him!
Kevin Greeley of Cambridge, MA - My friend and colleague because sometimes we might as well live at the office
Here are the "rules":
Create a blog post with a link to the person who so happily tagged you for a MEME.  See above.
List all of these rules in your post. Feel free to cut and paste this.
Share 7 things that others may not know about you. Do or have I HAD a life outside of real estate?
Identify 7 other ActiveRain members to tag for a MEME, and provide links to their blogs in your own MEME post.
Contact each of the tagged members and let them know that you tagged them
No schoolyard rules in this MEME, nope you gotta do it if you are tagged.  (I hear the MEME police are out in force, rounding up folks who ignore this "invitation")
Post a link to your MEME in the comments of this post - (the one in which you were publicly tagged!)
Include your post in the MEME's Group
ELIZABETH!  I waited all morning for this!  I LOVE IT!  It is hilarious and so unique!  I see the "skipping" in your posts!  And I am pretty sure the photo from the bank robbery will come in handy one day for a post!  THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS -- it is the best post I have read all day -- I love the happy ones and the ones that really show personality!!   -- Gabrielle
Hey Liz - good to hear from a friend back in Cambridge. I enjoyed reading this about you - the bank thing is pretty scary. You can expect you will get memed again. These things go on and on, and there are a bunch of different ones out there. Welcome to AR!
I like MeMe's, too, especially reading others. The thing I don't like is that there is no database of names of those who have done various MeMe's. For example, on the Bookworm MeMe, I got tagged 13 times. One's fun, 13 is too many, especially when each MeMe wants you to tag other people. Seven people being tagged is waaaaaaay (I used seven A's) too many. Tag one other person and let it go at that.
My friends -- and my CPA -- always make fun of me because I track how much money I find each year, including money that comes in the mail for completing surveys and such. 2008 shows $163.72. I do pay taxes on it because it is "income." Go ahead and laugh, but it clears my conscious and just makes me feel better about participating as a citizen of the greatest country that ever existed.
Jeff and Leesa - yes, the robbery was something. It's funny though - I found that you become very protective of the money.  A couple of years before I worked for the bank another branch was robbed of a bag of money that had just been delivered. The asst. mgr. chased the robber into the subway (unsuccessfully) armed only with a paperweight.
Thanks Russel.  I like memes too.  And I finally found out - on another post -  how to pronounce it - rhymes with "theme"  - I had been pronouncing in my head to rhyme with "gem" so I was glad to figure it out.  And I loved your comment about reporting survey income - good job! - my CPA dad would be proud.
Hey Jeff!  I look forward to reading yours!  And again - your Reasons to Love Portland on your blog are just great.
Hi Danny - That's why I skip only at the crack of dawn - nobody to witness!
I almost got robbed at Waldenbooks when I worked there many years ago. My shift ended just 30 minutes before the incident happened. The store, though, was never the same after that.
Elizabeth,
I enjoyed reading your Meme.   I was also tagged for a Meme recently.    I watched the video of the fight.  Peter is sure a big talker (before and after the fight).   Have a great week.
Hi Liz-
yes the Branford Townhouse is still there.  I am still a little confused by the meme thing but will try to give it a shot.
