With all the homes on the market currently you want your home to stand out from the rest.
New Flooring is a sure fire way to show value to the buyers.
There are many types to choose from. I have compiled a list here that covers most options out there presently.
1. Solid Wood - Loved for it's natural warmth and ability to be sanded/refinished several times. The only drawback could be that wood can discolor and wear quickly and most tend to dent. Not as easy to install as other types of flooring. Also should not be installed in basements or damp places.
2. Engineered Wood- This choice can be best for wooden or bamboo types of surfaces and are easier to install than solid wood flooring. Can be nailed, stapled, or glued usually. Cannot be refinished more than once. They can also be simply laid down or floated sometimes depending on the sub flooring. These woods can wear relatively quicker than other flooring's. Denting and small spills can cause damage with these types.
3. Plastic Laminates - Very good for toughness, choice of styles, and ease of installation. All laminates can be floated with out glue or fasteners. The better ones wear better than most wood with better scratch, dent and sun resistance. On the downside they can't be refinished like solid woods and big spills can be damaging to them.
4. Vinyl - Practicality rules for these types. Vinyl will typically offer long wear and resistance to stains, sun, and moisture. Along with easy installation, some vinyl products look more like stone and other natural materials giving you the best of both worlds. Yet even the best still looks like vinyl.
5. Linoleum - For those that want a natural resilient material, linoleum is the best choice for you. It offers far more colors and styles than any of the other choices. This flooring resists dents, sunlight and moisture. A very durable flooring. It's wear and scratch resistance can vary with different styles.
6. Ceramic Tile - Loved for it's natural beauty, tile tends to resist wear, moisture, scratches, dents and stains. The hard surface it gives the homeowner can be a problem when a cup or dish is dropped as it can easily break. On the downside, installation can be difficult as tiles can crack. Additionally grout can stain.
So there are the choices. These are all great tickle ups that can make your house shine and bring a better selling price.
