Chili season is quickly coming to a close.... for me Chili is fall and winter and I am ready to leave winter behind. NOW. Lisa who blogs as Restaurant Widow, a popular Columbus food blog just recently was in a Chili Cook Off at the North Market (downtown Columbus) ... I guess the North Market Chili Cookoff was a couple of weeks ago in February... part of the North Market's Fiery Foods Festival.
I am on Penzeys Spices mailing list. I got their Spring 2009 catalogue in the mail and there was a coupon for a free .08 ounces of one of their two NEW Chili Blends, so since I was not going to be too far away yesterday (or so I thought) I stopped by to get my free jar. I went with Chili 9000, the Chili of the Future, rather than Chili 3000, the Chili for NOW.
4455 Kenny Rd. Columbus Ohio 43220 Penzeys Spices in northwest Columbus at 4455 Kenny Rd. I usually think Penzeys Spices is on Reed Road though so I end up seeing more of northwest Columbus and a bit of Upper Arlington when I go to buy spices Last time I shopped at Penzeys Spices was just before Christmas, so not that long ago. I still pictured it on Reed rather than Kenny. Oh well.
Penzeys Spices is a funny building. I am guessing it was built as a bank in the 1960's or early 1970's???? My picture does not do it justice, it is a round or octagonal stone building with lots of glass. Penzey's Spices makes good use of the space.
It was busy at the store just south of Kenny Center on a late Tuesday morning...
