real estate: Why a Realtor ? - 04/14/11 01:55 AM
Why use a Realtor and not a Real estate agent? Here is why.
Both can be qualifed and good. But the National Association of Realtors is a strong property lobby. You as a home owner have a lobbist in Washington fighting for your property rights. Being a Realtor means that I pay dues  from my earnings. Those dues in part go to fighting for your property rights.
Yes we have additional traing and a code which places us on a higher standard of ethics. but a Real estate agent can be equally ethical and take the time to get training. In … (8 comments)

real estate: Clouds in Big Canoe - 03/24/09 07:20 AM
No matter how tough it gets sometimes looking out my back window and seeing these clouds cheers me up. In a way the clouds are the mountains breathing much in the same way you would see your breath on a cold day. The mountains themselves live and breathe through storms and sunshine. Hope you enjoy the photo.

real estate: News Hour report of Interest from Yesterday - 12/01/07 07:22 AM
Yesterday I listened to the News hour on PBS. I like doing that but often do not get a chance. I tuned in right in time to listen to the part about the economic crisis. I figured hey, we are going to blame this all on housing but why not listen?
Well it was interesting and there were 3 areas they pointed to. I am listing the areas and talking about them here.
1 The first was housing and they talked about slipping prices. We all know about this. Everything from the Lincoln Assassination to the rising price of milk has been blamed … (3 comments)

real estate: Somebody please explain it all to me !!!!! - 11/30/07 12:16 AM
This morning and yesterday I was listening to the news. They were talking about the tremendous crisis in the Housing market. Prices were falling ,falling ,falling. Doom !!!! Gloom !!! The end of Western civilization as we know it.  But then they said prices nationwide were down 1/2 of a percent. The market was off in terms of sales nationally about 8 percent and new homes starts for October were actually up .
So what am I missing? Do we have a correction in a market that got superheated due to bad loans and  over speculation? YES. But has there been a … (1 comments)

real estate: I never cried Wolf but they still don't trust me ! - 10/19/07 12:07 AM
I attended a local board meeting yesterday. I learned that the long range and short range(less than 3 years) problem facing Realtors is a lack of trust. A big part of this lack of trust is that NAR reported last year 50 percent of those who are new never made it past the first year. Personally I thought that number would be higher. Maybe in this market in 2007 it will be. Why!
There are a number of reasons. You cannot do this part time. It is not easy. It is more competitive than you think. How many Aunt Minnies do you … (9 comments)

real estate: Our Market Today - 08/17/07 04:19 AM

With all the bad news going around folks are wondering what am I to do in this market. It is important to know that we in the North Georgia Mountains did not have the same big run up as other areas of the country. Also it is really important to know that the economy here is diverse and many segments of the economy are not effected by the current market crunch.
SO with interest rates low and prices realistic NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY. Many folks even first time home buyers have sat on the couch. Well some of you … (1 comments)
