Facebook & Twitter, they're  not just for hog farmers anymore!
There must be opportunities for those in the real estate industry too!

I tried to send a photo of this sign from the Ohio State Fair to Twitter via Twitpic on Saturday but failed.
;- (
The sign says:
"Socialize with Ohio's Hog Farmers.  Join us today on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.  You don't know what you are missing."
Columbus is a pretty big city.  15th or 16 th largest in the US by populations.  Columbus is a spread out city...  I have corn in the background on ActiveRain.  … (12 comments)

ohio: Central Ohio Homes for Sale - 06/11/09 01:31 AM
Inventory levels (number of homes for sale) are down... drastically in some parts of Central Ohio.
Franklin County
Franklin County had 7.8 months of inventory at the end of May 2009, based on the current rate of sales the houses available would be sold within 7.8 months.  There were 8645 homes   for sale in Franklin County at the end of May 2009.  1112 homes sold in the month of May.  At that rate it would take 7.8 months for the current inventory of homes for sale to sell.
Over all Franklin County is still a buyers market (good time for a … (0 comments)

ohio: Thinking of Brightening Up Your Curb Appeal? Look to the Trees First... - 04/02/09 12:05 AM
This is a Re-Blog from an Ontario Canada home stager...
We have black walnut trees in Ohio...  I am very focused on trees this time of year... it's my inner Druid.

Do you have a section of your garden, where you’ve had a problem growing plants in the past?  Check out the trees in your yard and those growing on your neighbor’s property.

Black walnut and butternut trees are allelopathic - they naturally secrete a hormone (juglone) which is meant to inhibit other vegetation from growing  within the area of their root and drip zones.

ohio: Columbus "Visitor" - 03/22/09 07:01 AM
"Visitor"  is a song written and performed by a local band, The Receiver.   The music video was made by Vital Film Works whose description on YouTube says they are a "a Columbus based company focused on film, commercial and television production."  The music video of Visitor was made  for the Ohio Film Music Video Challenge.
One of the criteria of the competition was that the video be shot locally... in Ohio.  It was fun in some of the Ohio music videos to pick out the locations.
I cringed when I saw a comment "kind of makes me glad I don't live … (0 comments)

ohio: Ohio House Bill 257 Failed - 02/24/09 03:53 AM
Old news...
I found out in January in talking to a home inspector that the bill to license home inspectors in Ohio had failed... or Ohio House Bill 257 had not passed.  Or maybe I knew in 2008... and it just did not phase me with everything else going on in the housing industry.
I could have read it here at the end of January:  Ohio House Bill 257 - Licensing of Home Inspectors in Ohio on Tim and Mariana Buell's ActiveRain blog post in December 2008.  Ohio House Bill 257 would have required Ohio home inspectors to be licensed.  The … (4 comments)

Happy Groundhogs Day from Columbus Ohio Yes it's that time again.  February 2, 2009 Happy Groundhog Day.
Buckeye Chuck in Marion  Ohio should be up soon to let US know whether we get six more weeks of winter or an early spring in Central Ohio.
Ohio History Central (part of the Ohio Historical Society) says of Buckeye Chuck
"From late September until early April, Buckeye Chuck spends his time hibernating. On February 2, against his will, Chuck emerges from his sleep to predict the weather. In 1979, the Ohio legislature made Buckeye Chuck Ohio's official groundhog."

How well do you know your way around the US?  Do you use Google Maps a lot? Has ActiveRain made you more aware of geography? ActiveRain has made me aware of having a mental block on a few geographic issues... where the state of Delaware is... The difference between Crossville TN and Clarksville TN. Always get those those two cities mixed up. I wonder at how itty bitty states like CT and NJ can be so diverse.
