Each trough collects the residue

As tonic courses through the veins
So too comes life from mountain rains!

Mountains are one of Nature’s best water collection systems. They form a meteorological barrier that traps moisture and triggers rainfall.
And since this abundant precipitation occurs at the highest elevations, natural water delivery conduits can disperse the precious liquid to distant places.

It rained last night. All night. Usually, you don't think too much about that, nut we have been in a severe drought here in Georgia for two years now, and it has been some time since we have had a long, soaking rain.
After many months of dealing with a total ban on outdoor watering and daily conservation, the rain has taken on an entirely new significance. We not only use water to make our coffee and flush our toilets, we also use it to generate power, and on hot summer days in the south, the demand for power is … (40 comments)

It's raining here in Newnan Georgia. During most Springs of the past, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Spring is traditionally wet in our area, and Spring showers are part of the fabric of life here.
 
But last year was not a typical year. It did not rain much in the Spring, and even less in the summer, taking us into the worst drought we have experienced in a hundred years. The lakes were at an all-time low, and the news constantly reminded us that we only had about 45 days worth of water left.
