montgomery: Houston ( Sugar Land ), Texas is the 3rd Most Stressed out City - 08/19/10 05:49 AM
Forbes.com recently did an article on the most stressed cities in the nation.  There research was based on high unemployment, long commute times, long work hours, limited access to health care, poor physical health and a lack of exercise for major cities.  Las Vegas came in first.  They are obviously #1 due to the hours of operation of casinos(24hrs) and the house crisis there.  Los Angeles came in at #2.  Ironically Houston's unemployment rate is below the national average.  But per the article this leads to Houstonians being workaholics.  On average a Houston resident works 41.2 hours a week.  This is … (2 comments)

montgomery: Shop for Lower Electric Rates in Texas! - 08/16/10 03:47 AM
I recently came across a great website that allows you to shop around for cheaper electric rates.  It is www.powertochoose.org.  My understanding it is a non profit website and not associated with any specific electric company.  All you have to do is put in your Zip Code and a number of electric company options come up.  I try to shop for my electric every year, when my contract is up.  This way you can always keep your bill as cheap as possible.  You can choose 6, 12, 24mths terms.  It also shows you how much your cancellation fee is per option.  … (1 comments)
