Motivational Monday… Hand It Off

Worry…stress…anxiety…we all experience these. I have a way of taking on the problems of family and loved ones. Admittedly I can be bossy, but I also want to help.
In the past this led to some sleepless nights.  What I’m learning to do is hand it off.

I won’t give up on being there for someone who needs my help or advice but I’m learning to say Bye bye to people and problems over which I have no control.

At the end of the day, we have to allow people to make their own decisions and deal with their problems … (17 comments)

It’s Christmas…Come On…Wish Me Merry Christmas!

Being politically correct is highly overrated.  I’m not saying you should set out to offend someone. But whatever happened to common sense?!

It’s the time of year when I love wishing people Merry Christmas! It doesn’t matter if we know each other. It’s a seasonal way for me to say “Hello!”

It happened this weekend and it’s not the first time. When we were out on our morning walk, a fellow walker, concerned about offending me said…
“Merry Happy uh well have a good day.”

If you wish me a Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah or Happy … (17 comments)

Throwback Thursdays…Staging Stories

Years ago I received a call from an out-of-town seller whose condo had been on the market for quite a while. He’d had tenants in it for years but now that it was vacant, he’d decided to sell it.

The seller heard of staging and thought that might be the answer. After a few questions, I learned that it was well-priced and in a good location however, it needed some updates.

The seller never met the agent and when he expressed his frustrations, the agent suggested he lower the price.

Upon the suggestion of a friend, the seller finally looked at his … (18 comments)

Holiday Decorating When You’re Selling Your Home

Thanksgiving was last week, so the holidays are right around the corner. Many have already decorated their Christmas tree and hung their outdoor lights.

This is one of my favorite times of the year; nothing makes it more festive than holiday decorations.
Many sellers ask if they can still decorate their house for the holidays…and the simple answer is YES.

Just remember the basic principles of styling your home for sale…
Let the buyers SEE your space Allow the buyers to feel and see themselves living in the house.

Do You Know What This Means?
There are times when someone cannot call out for help for fear of their life.

I ran across this Hand Signal a few years ago and if you’re not familiar with it, I hope you’ll learn about it and if you want, share it with your family and friends.
It is the signal for help that was originally introduced in Canada by the Canadian Women’s Foundation in April 2020.
It came about in 2020 when many were forced to stay in their homes. This exacerbated the situation for those who were experiencing domestic violence.
With Zoom and video conferences, … (33 comments)

This Week...Healing Heels and Proust
We’ve had an off and on again rainy week and it is giving us time to heal our heels...plantar fasciitis. We both wear good walking shoes with support when we walk but I suppose they decided to scream to us that they need a break.

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes. Marcel Proust

Exercises, ice, and some anti-inflammatories are working so we are on the mend. And we’re also glad that they picked a rainy period to flare up.

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, … (33 comments)

Home Staging Tips-Appeal to the Senses.

Have you ever walked into a home and within a few minutes just sensed that it was right for you. You had a feeling...right?

It’s not just square feet or the number of bedrooms that will sell a house. There’s that intangible that a buyer feels that can help move them closer to the “I like it” side.

When your house is on the market it’s important to set the mood for the buyer. Help them sense that this is the home for them.
Once you’ve cleaned and repaired, updated and edited, it’s time to add … (22 comments)
