What a difference two weeks make, The first photo is from Early October and the second shot is from today.
Dramatic reds against a nearly clear blue sky...this day is behind us now. New Hampshire has shed its bright colors in favor of the grays and browns that occur soon after the peak of fall foliage.
The slopes of Loon Mountain Ski area, have gotten their first dusting of snow and a major loss of leaves...the grays and whites have set in, and you can bet this will be followed by more and more white.

Columbus day in the White mountains was simply majestic...foliage was beautiful and many drove over the Kancamagus scenic highway to observe the leaves changing colors.
This morning one day after the fall foliage peak...of leaf peeper season, we woke to something not unexpected but too soon for many people taste. Yes Folks Snow in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
We are expecting 1-3 inches of the white stuff, don't let it be said we can't move on. One day after the traditional three day holiday spent gazing at the leaves ...we turn to ski season.

Mirror Lake is in Woodstock New Hampshire, over half the shore line is owned by a Research facility working on natural forest plants and Tree growth. My wife who is the Guest service manager at South Peak Resort, Put on a great party last night. I posted earlier about Mo the clown/ balloon twister...now on to the adult portion of the night. Great Music and Wonderful food.
First up Bruce Marshal, who played many of the tunes he played with BB,King, the Marshal Tucker band and others. We played a bit of "name the sixties band" recalling our days Growing up in Sudbury Mass together.
It was an intimate affair and the private show was enjoyed by all.

Kancamagus...proper pronunciation "kank-ah-maw-gus"...was a term the Penacook Native American Tribes gave to this part of northern New Hampshire. It mean "The Fearless One", if you have ever driven the Kanc (as the locals call it)...you know you have to be fearless to drive this route during the winter. But in the Fall there is no better foliage drive in the country.
One of the many Lookout points where you can pull over and enjoy the view. This morning the fog was socked in to the valley below and obscuring some of the spectacular mountain views.

Many of the second home/condos are considering long term rentals in order to keep the cost of ownership reasonable in our current economic situation. The owner gets the income and utilities taken care of for there second home investment, and the tenant gets the benefit of the common areas and amenities of a condominium.
This is a win -win proposition, and how about this view from your deck?
Or the shared Lobby Great Room with fireplace , WiFi, and huge flat screen tv for the game.

These Big lumbering beasts look so prehistoric when you get up close (and they don't smell very good either).

If you have skied the South Mountain Summit trails down to Cruiser you have blasted past Escape Route.
Now I'm not saying you should take this trail, because if you do there is no way back to the lifts, but!
