christmas: Wrapping It Up - The Old Box In A Box In A Box Trick
- 12/27/20 08:18 AM
Christmas is now behind us, but that doesn't mean the gift giving ends. Gifts are wrapped and given all year long. Here is a way to add some fun to your gift giving. This gift wrapping idea comes from my favorite memory of Christmas last year... You remember last Christmas? You, know... normal Christmas, when we still gathered together as a family.
Two of our grandsons, Zack and Jack, were each getting a sled from us as one of their gifts. The sleds were large and I didn't really want to wrap two of them. Plus...once one was opened the other child would instantly know (25 comments)
Every year she recycles Christmas cards, using the front of each card to make new holiday cards for nursing home residents. Not only is this a nice gesture for the recipients of the cards, it's a wonderful activity for the children at Carol's center. A fun craft for the kids but, more importantly, it's a great lesson in giving to others.
If you have Christmas cards you plan to toss away this year, I ask you to please consider sending them to Carol.

Last Christmas I made this elf photo of Mom and Dad: The great thing about the photo is that it is PNG. I can easily place them on any background. So here is the pic I shared on facebook: Shortly after posting it, I thought of "elf on a shelf" and posted this...

You have probably been enjoying, as much as I have, all the "Christmas memory" posts written this month. We have Kathy Streib to thank for all the great stories being shared. Kathy's December Challenge is to share a favorite memory or gift. Well, this one is a no brainer for me. My favorite Christmas memory just happens to also be one of my best gifts.
Every year my immediate family celebrated Christmas and opened our presents on Christmas Eve. We visited my grandparents and other relatives on Christmas day. Our Christmas Day traditions changed over the years. (39 comments)

If you are planning on making pumpkin pie for Christmas, consider trying something a little different this year.... individual pumpkin pies. I saw an instructional video just before Thanksgiving and decided to give it a try for our Thanksgiving dinner.
I may never make a traditional pumpkin pie again. The mini pies were so much better. The crust was flakier, and if you really like crust you get more of it. Unlike a slice of pie with crust only on the bottom and end, the mini pies have crust all the way around! If you don't care for the crust, and it's the filling that (35 comments)
christmas: Meet The Star and The Supporting Cast of My Home's Christmas Decor

Tis the season to deck the halls, and my halls are finally decked! As Christmas decorating goes, I keep it fairly simple. I guess like everything else, it's all relative. Compared to some my decorating is probably over the top....compared to others, it's understated. I like a little Christmas in each room. The star of my holiday decor has always been the tree. I'm one of those "must be the perfect tree" fanatics. My ornaments and decorating style really haven't changed in many years, but the size of the tree has changed depending on the amount of space available. My current home has high (57 comments)
