Fall in Denver - Beautiful Time of Year

Fall In Denver

Denver's weather this time of year can vary but today is absolutely gorgeous!    The trees are slowly changing colors, leaves are starting to fall but the temperatures are still in the 70's and 80's.      Fall flowers are flourishing and grass seed is finally sprouting again.   The days are glorious and once the sun goes down, the evenings are getting much cooler.     The next two week's should be the best weekends to view the changing colors in the mountains!

Fall In Denver

Relocation buyers always ask WHEN will it start getting really cold or WHEN does the snow start?     According to records -

Earliest Freeze  -  September 8, 1962

Latest Freeze  -  November 15, 1944

Average Date of Freeze  -  October 7th

The last 8 years we had the first freeze in September, and 6 first freezes in October

These are the best days in Denver to take bike rides, go for a hike, go fishing or enjoy Octoberfest's last day in downtown Denver.

Joan yes, North East does have beautiful foliage, Central Park is spectacular itself. We are also thinking of driving up to Maine or maybe New Hampshire for its famous foliage too.

Joan -- I like this!  Informative too.  Freezing on September 8? Wow that is early. I can imagine that your fall mountain scenery is spectacular. Be sure to post pics of that!

Hello Joan,

Yes that time of the year again. Soon there will be snow falling and have to shovel it.

And that's why I moved back to Carlsbad, so I would'nt have to shovel snow. LOL

Have a great day in Denver. Sorry about the Bronco's.

Best, Clint Mckie

Fall is one of the seasons that I miss since we don't really have the spectacular Fall colors here in the Bay area, that I had seen when I lived in the northeast.

I still remember the most spectacular colors I've seen when all the leaves were neon bright. It was hard to believe that Mother Nature painted this picture.

I remember driving through Denver about the second week of October three years ago and SNOW was already on the ground!  I lived in Omaha for the first 28 years of my life so I always appreciate those LATE freezes :)

Gorgeous colors - thanks for the share.  Our leaves fall off the tree in Jan/Feb just in time for the buds, LOL!

Autumn or fall is a special season.  It is not to hot, not too cold, perfect!  It is also a time when hues of yellow, red and orange against the green of the evergreens are a delight to see.  The fallen leaves reminds me of the tune "Autumn Leaves"  Do you know it?  Here are some of the lyrics: "The fallen leaves drift by my window, the fallen leaves of red and gold"...

Gorgeous pictures, Joan - I don't know why EVERYONE just doesn't buy property in Denver, it is so beautiful, particularly with the fall colors.  If you are buying homes in Denver, Joan Cox should be your preferred REALTOR!

Joan, fall is my favorite season...and you're lucky to live in Denver where you have all four "distinct" seasons! Thanks for the interesting info about Oct. 7th being the average freeze day. :)

Hi Joan, I always enjoy seeing photos of fall foliage since our season changes here are much less dramatic than in the northern states.  And our temperatures are still very warm so it's hard to imagine what a freeze might even feel like!  Have a great week!

Hi Joan,

I always love this time of year.  Our leaves are not quite as far along as yours.  Our weather has been warm too but expected to cool down at the end of the week.  But I am nowhere near ready to turn on the heat!

Great photos of the changing leaves in the hills.   With hunting, I have seen many trees changing, should take photos.

Good Evening Joan:
Great pictures. I agree that Denver can be very beautiful in the fall. I spent last Christmas in Littleton and it was just as beautiful.  Thanks for sharing a little piece of Denver with us all
