Florida Property Tax actions needed to be take by Florida Residents in compliance with the new Tax changes enacted on January 29, 2008 which is Amendment 1.
Portability of "Save Our Homes" benefits- Apply by March 1, 2008 to get your benefits.
If you received your homestead exemption in 2007 on a home you either sold or abandoned during 2007 and you bought another house by January 1, 2008 you can take some or all of your 'Save Our Homes' benefit to your new home but my must apply for this at your tax appraiser's office. You will need to fill out form DR501t.
For your 10% limit on annual assessments for non-homesteaded properties, no action needs to be take at this time. The 10 % limitation does not take effect until next year.
Homeowners receiving the increased homestead exemption will automatically get their increase in homestead exemptions and no action needs to be taken on your part at this time if you already have your homestead exemption status.

If you have just moved to Florida and bought a house in Palm Beach County, you can visit the PAPA county property appraiser's office and E-file for your Homestead exemption.
You must be living in your Florida property on January 1 of the year you want to apply for your homestead exemption in order to be qualified for your exemption.
There are more exemptions other than just the homestead exemption that you may be qualified for:
- The widow and widower exemption
- The agricultural exemption
- The Disabled Veterans and Civilians exemption.
