The #1 LinkedIn Tip for Real Estate Pros

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with RealSupport Inc.

LinkedIn is one of the largest and fastest-growing social media sites in the world, with 400 million members, and 2 new members signing up every second. What's more, LinkedIn members tend to be professional, well-educated and affluent. LinkedIn enables real estate agents to engage with past clients, respected peers and qualified prospects.

Yet many real estate pros aren't taking proper advantage of LinkedIn, despite earnest advice from The Business Journal, Realtor.org and Inman News. We've posted several how-to's for LinkedIn ourselves, because we've seen firsthand how it benefits real estate agents.

Today, we're going to share our #1 tip for LinkedIn, based on a recent, real-life success story.

First, a few reasons why you should care. Real estate leads do come through your LinkedIn connections. It may be fairly often, or infrequent, depending on your connections. But as you know, a single lead can result in a sale, which can then turn into referrals and repeat business. You wouldn't pass up this opportunity in any other networking environment; so why neglect LinkedIn?

Also, don't forget that your LinkedIn profile can show up in Google search results, and that a strong LinkedIn presence boosts your online reputation! If you need help getting started with LinkedIn, see our post on 7 Ways to Boost your LinkedIn Profile.

Now for our tip. A new client recently came to us for help with his LinkedIn account. His challenges included a profile that wasn't getting attention, and a small network of connections that were not gaining traction. We asked him about his objectives, and then implemented a strategy for him, tailored to his needs.

In a short amount of time, this client's profile views reached the top 30% among all of his connections. We also increased his profile views by 20% in the last 15 days. His network connections grew as well, from a few dozen people to nearly 400 quality professionals.

Our #1 LinkedIn tip is a one-two punch:

1. A strong professional profile.

2. Consistent posting of status updates.

The best way to grow on LinkedIn, is to post status updates that your connections can see. This is how you eventually reach the coveted 100% profile. Status updates should be done as often as possible. We recommend once a week at a minimum; daily is best.

The challenge facing many real estate professionals, is that they don't have time to log in and deal with their account. Or, they don't know what to post. The less active you are on LinkedIn, the more likely you are to miss important connections and leads.

We suggest including LinkedIn in your daily online routine! If you lack the time, or need some help, contact RealSupport. Whether you just need help getting started, or you'd like ongoing management of your social media, we're here for you!

Good information.  Will go to your 7 tips as soon as saying hello here.  I always remember a statement made in a class.  He said basically "Linkedin is; Facebook for people with careers" Has always stuck with me.  Thank you for the post.  Mark

I am wondering if updating status posts everyday is different than posting a blog on LinkedIn's blog?  I've been doing the latter lately.

That's a great idea for a future blog post! Thank you Margaret!
