Does It Always Have To Be About Real Estate?

 

 

Speaking with AR member Marco Giancola this morning, I discovered we have similarities. We have both  been REALTORS ®  for the past 26 years, we both enjoy learning and  we both enjoy connecting with other agents of all ages. Marco is interested in the recent course CNE that I took with another member .

 

And then I found out about Marco's  love of architechture and painting.

When asked if he shared this passion on ActiveRain,  his response...No, he feels he should keep the conversation to real estate.

 

To say I disagree would be an understatement. People want to know about us. People want to connect with others like us.

Since Marco does abstract art, I asked if he knew Marti Garaughty who designed the cover of my book.

My various backgrounds have added so much to real estate. Through my nursing, ceramic art, blogging and radio show, I continue to make connections.

Ellen, It is the variety.  It was really good talking with Marco and encouraging him to share his talent. There is so much more going on here than real estate but it is the common thread that keeps us together.

Thanks Margaret, it's the variety of what you find here at AR that makes us stronger. How often someone is on the computer and gets distracted by other sites? Here one minute you can learn about real estate and the next see someone's grandkids, learn about someone's accomplishments, or get inspiration from someone's talents! How great is that?

I agree with you Margaret.  It shouldn't be all about Real Estate.  We'd sound like robot salesmen if that was all.  I like to hear about everyone else's interests too.

Margaret - I would have to agree with you. I think people want to not only know that we are knowledgeable real estate agents, but they want to know us on a personal level. We should be giving them a chance to like us and trust us as well.

Well, you know me! And here's a resounding NO! It doesn't always have to be about Real Estate. I just talked to a lovely person in Boston, she is thinking about getting her license, searched, found me and my blog and said "it just sucks you in, I couldn't stop reading". I have a (good, I think) mix going. People will call when they feel a connection. They can't feel one if we don't share who we are and what we are all about.
