Don't Talk about your Real Estate Deal on Social Media Sites
Facebook, Instagram and other social sites are great outlets to share the big events in your life, including the purchase or sale of a home. HOWEVER, most buyers and sellers love to check you out, and will see if they can find your sites and what you are talking about!
How many times have you heard from your client --- I found the seller (or buyer) and know they work at __________ . They just have to know, and Google makes it easy to find people. You don't want the other party to find your Facebook page where you are sharing details about the transaction. Just keep these details to yourself! Remaining silent is a good idea until you have closed - whether you are a buyer or a seller.
I have seen on a client's Facebook page exactly what prices they were looking at, and what they were willing to pay, AND they did not have the settings set for FRIENDS ONLY. It was open for everyone to see. HUSH!!! When you have closed - tell everyone, then it is OK. I went to a closing recently where the listing agent knew what the buyers' son looked like, and approximate age, as she found the buyers on Facebook. CHECK YOUR PRIVACY settings!
There have been times I have the other agent as a friend on Facebook, and seen comments I should not be seeing.....and not good for their clients.
After the sale in finalized, I like to take photos (with permission) and email/text them a copy so they can use on their own sites. After closing -- be proud of what you just accomplished - but AFTER it has closed.
