Real Estate: I love my Profession because.......

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with CELLing Realty CalBRE #01445865

Why I love Real Estate....I was tagged by Sally Cheeseman to write this.  I had never even thought of a Career in Real Estate, but once I entered this Profession I liked it.  I had previously worked with families in trouble, abused and neglected kids, juvenile delinquents, andpeople that needed help with all kinds of social issues.  Until I bought my house in 1997 I had never even met a Real Estate person, and honestly can't say I remember one bit of Marketing from someone in the Profession.

Nevada-Valley of the Fire

The top reasons I love my Profession are I get to be outside and incorporate photography into how I earn a living.  I get to incorporate the things I am passionate about,  find new treasures, and have the ability to maintain my own belief system of what helping means to me.  Here are a few other reasons I love my Profession.

I Love my Real Estate Profession because:

  • I hate to be confined.....and Real Estate allows me to work inside, outside, and all around the town :)
  • I like to learn new things and with Real Estate there is always something new to learn.
  • I like Marketing and I get to do this every day.....
  • I love Photography and once again the opportunities are endless for using different photos I've taken. Also by  being out in the community I see things I might otherwise miss.
  • Being a Broker allows me the flexibility to help someone else.   I don't need to get approval to barter my pay, or how I will help a particular client.  This is actually one of my favorite parts of my Profession......and I have used it to help several people including new Agents by increasing their commission on certain transactions.
  • I love the flexibility of time.....I can work 11 months out of the year and have my month off (in a better Market).  I can work late and early, and if I want I can have my nap during the day.  And I do want many times :)

  • I love that I am out in the tulle's and don't have to play the competition game with other AgentsI love that I have this choice.
  • There are clients that I adore and some that are a little more needy.....Real Estate is wonderful in that we can decide how much we want to put into the relationship after a certain level of Professionalism.
  • I've had many jobs where you work hard but don't get the satisfaction of having a positive outcome~ Real Estate has so many positive outcomes that I feel exhilaration when a  transaction comes together.
  • I actually get paid to talk to people :) :)

I can  make a difference by adding something like this to any and all of my Blog Posts, Web sites, and print material (click the link please :)  I enjoy having the time and resources to make a difference......

Kathy - From reading many of your posts I have found you to be a compassionate and caring person.  Any client would be extremely lucky to have you as their agent and any agent would be very lucky to have you as their broker.

Kathy are you saying that we deal with needy people in this business :) :)

I have always loved the part of my business that I get paid for giving away money :)

Sally- I think during this past year that you have indeed gotten to know me pretty well.  I do try to make sure that whatever I am doing that I care about it.....if not why put all the time and effort into it :)  And you're right about that balance.....I was taught that to prevent burnout to make sure you had a variety of activities in your life....that was over 30 years ago :) :)

Hi Lynda- Ya know it's been one year since I met Maureen and you on here, and have yet to come meet you in person....and you're only a couple hours from me :(  I have to rectify that one day soon.

Thanks for clicking on the link......and that photo is in the Valley of the Fire in Nevada....North of Vegas. It's absolutely beautiful, and has a ton of history to the area.

Hi Elizabeth- Ahhh so you are figuring out what makes me "tick" ....let me know what you come up with :)  Seriously....I think if you go back to my first posts to now the only difference is I learned how to do Graphics and Hot links .  But my writing and everything ab out me is the same.  Someone important overseas told a friend of mine they liked me because I was a "simple person"....yep that's me, simple but complicated, and very loyal.  If I believe in someone or something they know it :)  And it is indeed amazing to get paid to do what we love....

Pam- That was a really nice assessment...thank you.  I think like understands like ...:) :)

Ann- I have thought of you many times....hope all is well in Flagstaff.  Yes I took the Photo it is Valley of the Fire above Vegas.

Tulles= out in the middle of nowhere....away from the beaten path, and as for me it is an area that has no established RE Offices (no commercial in the area) and most Agents don't go there very often.

Oh George- you make me smile on here as much as you do on our friend Sally's Post....yes I think we have a few "needy" people that request our services.  Getting paid to be nice and helpful is such a plus :)

Monika- Hi there....I'm laughing about your comment on "The Tulles"  maybe I spelled it wrong but here's my definition :  Tulles= out in the middle of nowhere....away from the beaten path, and as for me it is an area that has no established RE Offices (no commercial in the area) and most Agents don't go there very often.

Thank you everyone for clicking on the link :)

Kathy,

Thank you for your post. It is good to question our reasons for being a real estate agent.  Especially in times like these we really need to know why we are doing this.  I also love helping people and I do enjoy the flexibility.

Linda- Being a member of the Active Rain Group Positive Attitudes for the Weary Soul....you'd be surprised at what Sally (the Group Founder) comes up with for the Group :)  Are you in this Group...if so there is a Group Challenge for all of us to do this....let me know (here) if you write one.  I think we all have similar reasons for doing what we do....

Great blog and WELL SAID!  I love being a REALTOR for all of the reasons you stated, as well as a couple of personal reasons (that may not be universal, but "work" for me).  Even in these hard times, I can't see myself doing anything else.
