photos: Jack's Saloon postcard. Were there others? These are 216 Central - 02/02/24 11:37 AM

This newly discovered postcard is interesting and I have done a blog about this similar one below.  So I am wondering if some business person went around putting up little saloons.  Click here https://activerain.com/droplet/7s62 for the blog of the one below.  The gentleman above seems more like the saloon type and the gentleman below looks more like the business type who would start the franchise.

Let us know if you have any info on Jack's Saloons!

photos: Another sad Judsonia AR tornado photo. 1952. - 06/28/22 10:45 AM

Another sad photo of Judsonia AR tornado
I can't remember where I got this picture but it brings back sad memories of the 1952 tornado that practically wiped out the Arkansas town of Judsonia and did damage to other towns nearby.  Perhaps someone can tell us the location of this destruction.  It is amazing to see the two story house still standing.  I did another blog that shows the famous Judsonia mansion before the tornado.  Click here to see it.  The mansion survived and is still standing.

photos: Aerial view photos. So nice and so easy now. Harding, Searcy AR. - 11/07/17 06:22 AM

Aerial view photos!
We who have been in real estate for many years really appreciate the ease  with which we can obtain photos of our listings.  In Searcy AR we can go to a free courthouse web site called ActDataScout.com and find out the information about a property.  Not many years ago we had to pay 10 cents a minute to get the information online, which was a good thing because before that we had to visit the county assessor's office to get the information.
Even at the court buildings, however,  we could not get aerial-view photos.  In the early 90's I had … (0 comments)

photos: Des Arc AR old courthouse picture. Historic photo. - 09/14/16 04:46 AM

Here's another great old picture that was made approximately 1976.  It was found in an old estate sale for a price within my budget.  It stills looks basically the same if you google Des Arc Arkansas.   Des Arc is a small town that takes a bit of driving to get to but is worth the drive.  The court house was built in 1939 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and used salvaged materials from a 1910 structure.
I found this information on the internet.

"THE HISTORY OF DES ARC ALL STARTED ON THE WHITE RIVER AS EARLY FRENCH TRADERS CAME DOWN … (2 comments)

photos: Run by and say your final good-bye. House at 800 W. Center coming down. - 07/16/12 12:00 PM
The house is so stately and has class.
The house has always been well maintained.
The house will soon be gone.
The wrecking ball is on its way so I drove by and said my final good-bye and snapped a few pictures for history and for the Searcy Sleuths.  Searcy history said it was once a Methodist parsonage in 1957 and it was built in 1955.  I know it as the former home of Leon and Sherry Person who served many delightful meals to friends through the years.  I almost cried as I circled it.

That was earlier.  Here … (12 comments)

photos: Tell me what does not belong in this picture. - 09/14/10 02:23 PM
My intention was to write about these beautiful sunflowers that were delivered to our house.  A cousin sent them to Hubby and I love them.  So does he.  They're more beautiful than roses!  I snapped several pictures and upon seeing this one I decided to turn this blog into a lesson.
The lesson is about MLS pictures that we see all the time with distractions, irrelevant objects, objectionable objects, etc.  So what is the glaring item in this picture that needs to be eliminated?

You missed it???  Then you're probably guilty of having bad MLS photos!!

photos: Ooops! You missed your WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY! - 01/15/08 01:18 AM
I suspect you got up this morning just as I did and checked your email and checked for new listings on the Multiple Listing Service.  As just as I, you probably did a little silent fuming because there's a new listing in a great neighborhood or one that is out in the "boonies" which is too far to drive by and there are no photos.
Our MLS considers a listing NEW for three days and shows it as new.  After that it is considered ACTIVE.  When an agent does not get a set of photos in within the three day period that … (8 comments)

photos: Pictures on cards vs. no picture? - 10/19/07 02:54 AM
Some controversy always exists on real estate cards and what you should have on them.  My habit has always been to throw away the cards with no photos because there's no way for me to remember that person without a picture.  (Having taught Art, I'm strictly a "one picture is worth a thousand words" person.
And, yes, time does fly and the pictures might be a bit dated but it is still a picture.  One agent said, "But I look so bad I don't want my picture on a card."  One of those dynamic speakers at convention just bellowed, "Well, do you … (10 comments)
