Keeping the emotions in check... - 10/31/11 11:20 AM
...could be the biggest advantage that working with a good REALTOR® offers a buyer or seller.
It is funny where we see the message sometimes. As you know, it is Halloween. My son woke up this morning so excited that I could not understand a word he was saying for about 15 minutes, and he had calmed down very little by the time we got to school. When his teacher got him out of the car, and he tried to speak to her, it came out on a very loud jumbled mess. The teacher laughed and said, "Yep, we have be hearing … (1 comments)

The day that changed my life forever... - 10/27/11 10:41 AM
...is different for everyone. Whether it be a wedding, birth of a child, new or lost job, death of someone close, or the I should have died experience, you get the point, right? The interesting thing is we really never know what that day will be or when it will come. And, in reality, it is really only that day "for now".
I have had several of "those" days in my life. Each one is very poignant to who and what I am today, and most importantly, who I really believe I am meant to be if only for today.
I … (1 comments)

Leaving the right way... - 10/26/11 09:43 PM
...is not only prudent, but makes the most business sense in an unsure world.
I had a conversation with my broker today about an agent that had quietly let her know that he is leaving for another firm that he feels better suits his business model. No malice, no hidden agenda, just a sound business decision. But, is this decision permanent or for now?
My interesting perspective allowed me to watch two people act like the credible business people I know them to be. The agent had already given me a heads up as to the what and why, but his … (1 comments)

Do your job! You're making us both look bad... - 10/19/11 07:17 PM
I have been working with a client who is trying to do the right thing by his sister-in-law who has fallen on bad times. We have targeted a property that he wants to buy, and in turn give her an estate for years so she can live a bit more stress free than she has been.
In fairness, it is a very small deal, but that does not mean the listing agent and/or her staff should not return calls, emails, etc. I am not wanting the agent to take up the cause so to speak, but I do expect common courtesy … (1 comments)

Writing a contract this morning... - 10/07/11 10:09 AM
... and taking my son to Tuscaloosa this afternoon. Am I setting myself up for unwanted stress? Simply put, not if everyone keeps to "my" schedule, which we all know is not going to happen.
I am reminded by a close friend, somewhat frequently I am ashamed to say, that I am in the action business, not the results business. Most days this is easily understandable and I do not fight it very much. But, add time with my son and Alabama Football to the equation, and I can get a bit testy and selfish.
Time with our kids is fleeting. For … (2 comments)

She loved it. We bought it... - 10/05/11 10:28 AM
... and whew, he does too.
I know that is a funny way to start, but I helped a couple buy a home earlier this year that only the wife has physically seen until this past weekend. In fact, it was a new construction ground up project. It was a different transaction that circumstances just did not allow him to be here to participate in.
Anyway, I went over to the home yesterday and sat down with them both. I have to admit being a bit uncertain as I pulled up. I really believed that we had hit a homerun on … (2 comments)

You can go home again, or at least to Homecoming... - 10/03/11 09:58 AM
... which many graduates from the 1980's classes of Riverside Military Academy found out this past weekend.
In what was originally billed as just another Homecoming Weekend, it turned out to be an opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation for an exemplary education and one man who has dedicated his life to his alma mater.
Coach Errol Bisso, Class of 1951, was honored by "his boys" in a fashion very similar to Bear Bryant's Junction Boys. There were many who could not attend that planned to, others that have been hit extremely hard by the econmic environment, but that really was … (0 comments)
