For those that have followed my blogs, you know that I have been an avid supporter of the Share Our Strength organization.   The sole purpose of this group is to end childhood hunger in the US.  Recent statistics state that 1 in 5 children don't know when they will have their next meal.  For a country that has so much, this statistic just breaks my heart.
This month is the DINE OUT event.  Below are the step by step instructions.  I am begging you to help our casue.

share our strength: No Child Should Go Hungry - 04/08/12 09:19 AM

As many of my friends, family and blog subscribers know there are several charitable organizations that I passionately support.  I first learned about the Share Our Strength (SOS) organization as a culinary student about 20 years ago.  The fact that 20 years later, we are still faced with the same problem on a greater scale is just shameful in my opinion.

We are so fortunate in the USA to have so much.  However, the current statistics are that 16 million children go to bed each night hungry.  I cannot imagine being a child and living with the continual stress … (4 comments)

share our strength: Taste of the Nation - Georgia Aquarium April 12th - 03/24/12 11:37 AM
The statistics are in.  One in five children do not know when they will have their next meal.  As the economy has taken a beating over the last few years, the number of children in need continues to increase.  Proper nutrition is critical in childhood development.  Studies show that good nutrition will impact overall health and learning abilities.

The arrival of spring means that it is also time for the most successful charity event for the Atlanta Food Bank and Share Our Strength.  The Taste of the Nation is the ultimate "foodie" event as 50 of Atlanta's best restaurants … (8 comments)

Yes, it is the end of the year and there are so many events demanding our attention.  You have the holidays, family, friends, business planning, clients, customers all making their demands.  And then we have the reminders that time is running out to make those changes that will impact our tax bill to Uncle Sam.  Checking insurance, retirement all of those decisions that have a deadline.
I would like to add one more to the list.  Today marks the first of the last 3 days to make a charitable contribution in order to claim it on your taxes.

share our strength: Share Our Strength - Cooking Matters - 09/13/11 09:11 AM

Share Our Strength is a non-profit organization with one goal in mind, to end childhood hunger in our country by 2015.  The lateste statistics show that 1 out of every 5 children go to bed hunger, or not knowing where their next meal will come from.  In a country as bountiful as ours, this is truly a disgrace in my opinion.
Good nutrition is critical in the developmental years and a lack of a well balanced diet affects health and learning.  Share Our Strength has long been supported by chefs, restaurants and corporate sponsors.  I personally have been involved with the … (3 comments)
